Bed and Breakfast along the Santa Fe Trail near Dodge City Garden City, KS. Savor the small town living in 1907. Come sit a spell on our front porch! Little did Great Aunt Sally know, when she and Great Uncle Thaddeus headed west on the Santa Fe Trail, that reaching the end of the trail for them would not mean Arizona or New Mexico, but Kansas. Cimarron, Kansas, to be exact. She wasn't sure what made them decide to just stay there that day when they were choosing between the northern route and the southern route of the trail instead of continuing on west. Maybe it was that wide stretch of prairie where the winds sang all day long that they had just crossed; or maybe it was the talk of a flowing river just beyond to the south; why, it might even have been that tiny millinery shop sign she saw as they passed through Dodge yesterday; but then, maybe Cimarron was just west enough. Just relax and watch the world pass on by, you can almost hear her say from the porch swing that still looks out over the perennial garden that she first dreamed of out there on the prairie in 1907. Well, Aunt Sally passed on some time ago, but she'd still want you to stop and sit a spell at her charming yellow house. Or come into the parlor: let your fingers tickle the ivories of the magnificently ornate rosewood grand piano; let your eyes feast on the original leaded and etched glass in the windows; and let your soul feel the strength and sturdiness that pioneer stock reflected by the dark oak and pine floors. We've made a few changes to Aunt Sally's home - central heat and air; a hot tub enclosed in her scented herb garden - but we've kept in touch with that simpler lifestyle of days past. From the airy ceilings and period light fixtures to framed art, both original and prints, from beloved antiques to the soft glow of a favorite Oriental rug in the dining room, the warmth and ambiance strangers found at Aunt Sally's remains today. Cimarron Crossing BB is located on US Highway 50 just three blocks west of the only stop light in Gray County. Private, off-street parking is provided. The city of Cimarron offers several historic attractions within a short driving distance: the settlement at Dodge City; covered wagon ruts from the Santa Fe Trail are still visible today; and the Santa Fe Trail exhibit at Ingalls, just six miles west. A bit of history, a snip of small town simplicity and a good deal of comfort are yours to be enjoyed as you stop and sit a spell at the Cimarron Crossing Bed Breakfast. We trust you'll find your stay - from the soft feather comforters and cozy terrycloth robes to our healthy and hearty breakfasts - every bit enjoyable.
