Glasgow SECC. The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (the SECC) and the Clyde Auditorium are both renowned as an architectural masterpiece, ideally located by the riverside. The Clyde Auditorium's structure, named' the armadillo' has an architectural resemblance to the Sydney Opera House. Adjacent to the Armadillo is the magnificent SECC, one of the only four integrated exhibition and conference centres in Europe with a capacity of 3000 people. Throughout the year the SECC and the Clyde Auditorium plays host to the biggest international names in the music industry as well as high-profile comedians and performers that entertain a large-scale audience. Exhibitions and shows are also held throughout the year including, Ideal Home Show, formerly, the Modern Homes Exhibition, Car Exhibitions, Trade Shows and formal conferences designed for business, research and education. The final show of the year is the SECC Christmas carnival and circus that runs from late November till Mid January. Refreshments facilities are widely available in the SECC and Clyde Auditorium, with a selection of bars, cafes and a newsagent. The Complex is fully accessible for disabled people with Exhibition Halls located at ground level and lift access to the upper floors. Regular rail services serve the SECC station from Glasgow Central and Argyle Street Low Level, Clydebank, Partick, Motherwell and Hamilton. Glasgow's original city centre theatres were constructed in the Victorian period such as The Kings's, The Theatre Royal and The Pavilion, each of them retaining their victorian opulence and grandeur. Other venues in the city are more recent additions to Glasgow's Theatre Scene: The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, by far the largest; The Citizens; The Arches and The Tron, set in the neo-gothic Old Tron Church at Glasgow Cross. Glasgow's theatres are not only venues that play host to theatrical performances, theatres such as The Arches and The Tron are renowned for hosting live music and DJs until the small hours. Licenced bar facilities are available at each venue. Glasgow Royal Concert Hall hosts the largest events in Glasgow's performing arts, including Celtic Connections and high-profile performances in classical music, comedy and drama. Smaller theatres can be found in other areas of the City, particularly the South Side and West End, namely The Tramway, Cottiers and The Mitchell amongst others. Stage productions and performances are well publicised and seats can be easily booked in advance online or by telephoning box offices direct. Glasgow's Theatre's are all accessible by public transport, however, city centre and West End venues are within walking distance from Smith's Hotel.
