Many of you have asked for more Juneau information such as weather, what to wear,
Internet access, etc., as well as what activities are available. Here you go;hope this helps! Population: About 30,200. Temperatures: Average summer temperatures are in the 60;s with many days reaching into the high 70;s and low 80;s. Warmest month on average: July. The Driest months are April, May and June. Hours of Daylight: Maximum hours around June 21st;18 hours. What to Wear: Dress in layers. A light shirt, short or long sleeved, makes a good first layer. Over that, something for warmth like a sweatshirt, wool sweater or fleece pullover. The ideal outer layer is a light, waterproof jacket. Don;t forget sleeveless shirts for the warmer days. If you plan to be out on the beach or hiking in the woods, waterproof boots are the best choice.

room at Beachside Villa. Juneau, Alaska is one of the most beautiful destinations you will ever visit. The area abounds with wildlife such as bears, mountain goats, bald eagles, seals, sea otters, whales and much more. Juneau;s historic downtown is filled with gift
shops, art galleries and
restaurants; as well as sculptures, cruise ships, float planes, museums, historical buildings, and the State Capital. Mendenhall Glacier: A frozen expanse larger than the State of Rhode Island. The on-site Visitor;s
Center is open daily from May 6 to September 27th. Adults $3. Children 12 and under free. Beginning mid- to late-May, the US Forest Service offers a 1 ½ to 2-hour hike on the Moraine Ecology Trail. Forty-five minute nature walks start at 2 p.m. Hiking: Juneau has 50 major trails or 120 short walks;the most in Southeast Alaska. Trails vary in difficulty. You;ll need to bring waterproof hiking boots, rain gear, and extra clothing. Trail guides are available at the Forest Service Information Service Information
Center in Centennial Hall. Birdwatching: There are 114 species of birds that nest in Juneau. Roughly 16,000 bald eagles live in Southeast Alaska. They are most frequently spotted near the water, often perched high in a treetop searching for signs of fish. You can often see bald eagles perched right on the hut outside Beachside Villa eating their prey. St. Nicholas Orthodox Church: Visit the oldest original Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska. Built in 1894. Open in summer;small donations are requested. Alaskan Brewing Company: Enjoy a free ½ hour
tour and a sample of brew. Summer
tours begin May 3rd through Sept. 25th. Mon-Saturdays, 11-5. Last
tour starts at 4:30. Wintertime
tours are offered Thursdays to Saturdays from 11 to 4:30. Museums: Downtown museums feature an array of artifacts, antiques, art and natural history displayed on a continual basis. The Alaska State Museum is open in the summer 9-6 weekdays and 10-6 weekends. Admission is $4. The Juneau-Douglas City Museum is open 9-5 weekdays and 10 to 5 weekends. Admission is $3. The Last-Chance Mining Museum is a short ride or a 45-minute stroll to the end of Basin Road. As you go, watch for wildlife, such as bear, porcupine and eagles on the surrounding hillsides. Hours are 9:30-12:30 3:30-6:30. Admission is $3. Gold Town Nickelodeon Theater: Watch a
movie history of Juneau. Time: ½ hour. Shows are daily on the hour. Price: $5. Mt. Robert;s Tramway: 2,000-foot ride up to the observatory, cafeteria-style
