WC separated. Kitchenware, sheets and towels provided. The Guest House « den-haut ». Located 30 m away from the castle, on the first floor of an attractive old barn. Facing South it overlooks the castle and lime trees. The inner part has been built in year 2005. Quality environment suitable for 4 to 5 guests. Two ways to get in : one from below with a steep staircase and one via the swimming pool. Large living room with an all equipped kitchen. Convertible coach. Small laundry room with washing machine and ironing board. A tumble dryer is available in the other guest house. Two bedrooms with private access. Both share the bathroom equipped with its own shower, tub and toilet. The loviest rooms in the castle are for you! they are all different and have been tastefully decorated by Marie-Andree. This is an imposing and romantic suite with a large 160cm:64'' canopied bed in a 40 square metre bedroom, plus a dressing room with its own bed. The room has a superb 18th century fireplace and medieval stone benches set in the recesses of the tall west window and the bathroom with WC are in its corner tower. This large and charming bedroom also has stone window seats in the west facing windows. The double bed 160cm/63'' has rich, drapped hangings and there is a small day bed. Adressing room with a 19th century bed is adjoining. There is comfortable bathroom with a separated WC. Full of character is a smaller bedroom in the round tower. The large fireplace, stone bench along with painted beams and original tiled floor all maintain its 15th century atmosphere, as does the canopied 160cm/63'' double bed. The shower is stucked into the thick stone walls of the tower and there is a separated WC with a handbasin. Very large bedroom with a hanged « four-poster » 160 cm/63-inch bed. Stone bench by the window, arrows slit, attic beams and mezzanine. Very large bathroom with a « jacuzzi;type » tub. WC in adjoining small square tower. Pleasant bedroom ( like all others! ) overlooking the quiet village of Usseau and the medieval motte bailey. Twin beds ( 120 cm /47-inch ) under canopies. These beds can be easily joined to make an extra wide double bed. Bathroom with tub. Separate adjoining WC. The Dining Room to enjoy breakfast and dinner. The large Drawing Room enjoy books and prepare your plans for touring the area. The Table dhote is guided by Marie-Andrees inspiration. Having been chef at her own restaurant in Canada she has perfected her talent. She makes use of regional produce, some of which originate directly from our Jardin de Lumiere or vegetable garden, from our orchards and from our herb garden near the kitchen. She prepares creative, healthy and full of flavour dinners. Aperitif, Saumur wines, coffee, tea or herb tea from the garden make this meal most enjoyable. We take into account eating limitations and allergies our guests are subjected to.

Marie-Andree and Jean-Marie will be delighted to welcome you in their listed 15th century castle. The bedrooms are charmingly furnished with antiques furniture but 21st century comfort. There is a large drawing room, dining room and a library in the main tower. Breakfast can be served on the high terrace garden with its wide views over the surrounding contryside and there is a swimming pool. In fact there is all you need to ensure that you will have a stay to remember. This medieval castle is in an ideal position. It is close to the Loire valley, known as the Garden of France, where French kings built their beautiful chateaux, and is in the Poitou with its fine examples of Roman architecture. Nearby there are excellent golf courses and a variety of leisure activities to suit all ages. Futuroscope, a marvel of modern film technology, is only a short drive away. The Chateau de la Motte is also in very easy reach of the A10 motorway and the TGV station at Chatellerault. Come and spend a few days or a few weeks with us. The Chateau de la Motte would also be an ideal place for a short stay en route for south-west France or Spain, or to Paris and northern Europe whether on holiday or on business.
