Take the A9 north to Inverness and continue northwards to Brora (it's just 60 miles from Inverness). On arriving at the start of Brora, you will pass the police station on the right, a disused
garage on the left keep on the main road, until you come to a bridge where the road dips down and goes to the left. Take this road to the right - the sign says -
Golf Course. The second road on your left now is
Golf Road - take this one and we are located just 50 metres along on the right. Bring you car in, park anywhere and come on in - we will be delighted to see you! Take the A9 south from Scrabster/Thurso or the A99 from Wick and continue past Helmsdale for a further 11 miles. As you arrive in Brora, continue past the petrol station on the right and Rapson's
Garage (on the left). Once you see 'London House' - take the next turnoff on the left - you are now on
Golf Road. The second road on your left now is

It is possible to make a number of interesting day and half day
trips around the Far North using Glenaveron as your base. We would like to give you just a few examples out of so many you can do: Drive north from Brora and then turn left up beautiful Glen Loth (shown on left), until you join the A836 through the tiny hamlet of Altnaharra, then home via Lairg and Golspie. Head south on the A9 past Dornoch and then take the A949 to Bonar Bridge, passing on the way Skibo Castle, the holiday destination for such celebrities as Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson and Greg Norman. From Bonar Bridge head north on the B836 to visit the Falls of Shin to see the salmon leaping. Then back to Bonar Bridge and across the bridge to Ardgay. Drive down the side of the loch as far as the Dornoch Bridge and then head north again to visit Dornoch itself. Dornoch made the world headlines in December 2000 as the place Madonna chose to get married, and her son was christened in the lovely Dornoch Cathedral. Then head north back to Brora. This is a wonderful full day's drive. Head south down the A9 to Dingwall and then take the A834 for 7 miles to Gorston and then left onto the A832 as far as the village of Gairloch, via the beautiful Loch Maree. The lovely
gardens at
Poolewe are only about 5 miles from Gairloch and are well worth a visit. Continue to follow the A832 until it joins the A835. Then head north up to Ulla
pool. It is a fairly easy journey back to Brora via Lairg and Golspie. These are out of many possible
trips that can be made using Glenaveron as a base. Stunning views are never far away. Come and see for yourselves!!
