The house was built in the mid 1850's by the Reverend James Sinclair. Born in Ireland in 1810, Rev. Sinclair emigrated to the U.S. in 1849. Three years later his opposition to slavery caused him to move to Canada. In 1854 he settled in Huntley Township. He and his wife built the cut stone house with an advance of 100 pounds from the local congregation. He died in 1892 and his wife in 1911. They are buried side by side in the nearby Presbyterian graveyard. The house has been home to several families since the turn of the century. It fell into a state of disrepair in the 1980's. After extensive restoration work by the previous owners and renovations by Bob and Christine it has been opened to travellers, offering them comfortable beds and wholesome breakfasts. The house, less than a 30 minute drive to downtown Ottawa via Highway 417 (Queensway), is close to cross-country ski trails, several golf courses, nature trails and the Corel Centre stadium. Cancellation Policy : We offer you a full refund if you cancel 7 days or more in advance. 50% of your deposit will be refunded if you cancel 3 to 6 days in advance. There will be no refunds if cancellations are made 2 days or less in advance.

The house is located west of Ottawa near the village of Carp. Take the Carp Road Exit off Highway 417 (Queensway). The house is 7 km north towards the village of Carp on the right hand side of the road, approximately mid way between the Richardson Side Road and the March Road.
