Wonderful views - the sky goes on forever. Heavenly breakfasts - perfect... Many thanks Kate, Alastair and Tom - Ipswich London - March 2005. At this unique bed breakfast a wonderful choice of Aga cooked breakfasts awaits. Typical breakfasts will include porridge, cooked overnight in the Aga, homemade marmalade and jam, free-range eggs from the cottage, award winning local sausages, Kippers from Loch Fyne, smoked haddock Kedgeree. Dinner Dinner can be provided by prior arrangement. Val is an excellent cook and her menu is wide ranging. All meals are served in the privacy of your own accommodation. If you wish to dine out, there are also a good selection of pubs, restaurants and hotels available nearby in Aberfoyle and the surrounding area.

We came to the Trossachs and enjoyed some great walking. The accommodation, the food and the hospitality were all first class. The view across your Moor is stunning. We will return! WALKING There is a fantastic network of wonderful paths to walk, and hills to climb, around the Trossachs. From the walk on our own Moor, to a stroll with great views, through the magnificent Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, or a wee climb up the smallest Ben with the best view - Ben A'an, overlooking beautiful Loch Katrine...to a full day's hike up mighty Ben Lomond for a breathtaking view over Loch Lomond and Scotland's first National Park. Whatever your walking needs...there is much which is easily accessible from The Barns of Shannochill. PHOTOGRAPHY The Barns of Shannochill is surrounded by some of Scotland's most scenic vistas, where photographic opportunities abound! GOLF Nearby Aberfoyle, has a very scenic golf course. A very picturesque little course which I found very challenging. Set in some of the most beautiful countryside Scotland has to offer with a view of Ben Lomond. This is a little gem of a course not to be missed!! - Steven Brown. Scotland has almost wall to wall golf courses - a landscape full of opportunity for the golfer exists. SAILING WATERSPORTS We can make arrangements for you to enjoy the excellent facilities of the nearby Forest Hills Watersports Centre, which offers boating, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing on scenic Loch Ard. QUAD BIKING Go Forth offer the fun of Quad Biking on the forest roads around Loch Ard - only 15 minutes away from Shannochill. FISHING We can help you to arrange trout fishing on Loch Ard and there are also many other beautiful fishing lochs around the Trossachs. We would be delighted to arrange for someone to teach you the art of Fly Fishing and to show you some of the best spots to cast in the area. CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING Arrangements can be made for clay pigeon shooting at nearby Ledard Farm. The shoot is conducted by expert instructors - the emphasis is on fun! Two radio-controlled traps provide the targets, while there is a choice of guns. Sub-sonic ammunition is used which significantly reduces the recoil and the noise. CURLING Following the Scottish girls great success with their gold medal at the Winter Olympics, you may wish to follow their example and try your hand at curling - at the nearby Forest Hills Leisure Centre, which boasts one of the best curling rinks in Scotland.

The breakfast is delicious. Our room, with the marvellous view straight from the bed, is spectacular. The peaceful location, the beautiful garden and the oak woods are just perfect... The spacious bed breakfast accommodation is flexible, with twin beds on the ground floor (normally located side by side to create a super king size double) and with an en-suite shower room. There are two additional beds on the mezzanine level, which has a really cosy pine-clad ceiling, that is a real feature of this unique accommodation. This part of the accommodation features a large sitting area with a huge picture window, through which you can enjoy the wonderful panoramic views, over our own wee loch, and over the Lake of Menteith to the Ochills and to the full sweep of the Campsie Fells.

The Barns of Shannochill is splendidly located to provide an excellent base from which to explore so much of Scotland. The Trossachs, Stirling and Loch Lomond are all only half an hour's drive away, while the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow are both within an easy hour's drive. Shannochill is also well situated for day trips to the North and both the West and East Coasts. Such destinations as Pitlochry, Oban, St Andrews and Loch Ness are all within reach of a comfortable day excursion. Shannochill is central situated - half an hour west of Stirling and just three quarters of an hour north of Glasgow. The house is located a mile off the main A81 Glasgow to Aberfoyle road, with the entrance situated 2 miles south of Aberfoyle. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality. These are some of the places that are within easy reach of Shannochill. STIRLING CASTLE Standing on 250 feet of rock, the castle has dominated much of Scotland's vivid history. It is considered by many to be Scotland's grandest castle and was home to many generations of the Scottish Royal Family - Mary Queen of Scots was crowned here. THE WALLACE MONUMENT The monument takes you back some 700 years to the days of Scotland's fight for independence and tells the story of William Wallace (known as Braveheart in the recent film). The 220 foot tower offers great views across to Stirling Castle. It is also here that you can see his enormous two handed sword! SS SIR WALTER SCOTT The wonderful old steamship;Sir Walter Scott;, plys the waters of the outstandingly beautiful Loch Katrine, as she has now being doing for over 100 years. In addition to sailing on her, you can also hire a bicycle, sail up the loch, and then cycle back and enjoy the most stunning views in the Trossachs. LOCH LOMOND Loch Lomond Shores is the gateway to Scotland's First National Park and contains a unique mixture of exciting attractions, to help you discover more about the natural and cultural heritage of the area, what to see and where to go.
