Moonlight over the mountains, sunlight over the sea. Each and every morning, between 08:30 and 10:30, a
buffet style, help yourself,
breakfast is available in our
breakfast room. Our
breakfast can, of course, be taken in the
breakfast room or perhaps you would prefer to enjoy it in the shaded fresh morning air on the
veranda or why not outside on the
patio as you watch the sunlight dancing on the sea as it gently kisses the pebble beach just a few meters away? Just for a change, forget the diet and pre-book a more substantial
breakfast prepared especially for you by the family. Either way; what a great way to start your day! No need to go far to find our
bar! Set amidst lush green grass and exotic flowers, our
garden bar is open each afternoon and evening. Here you can relax in the fresh air, meet other guest, make new friends or just sit and watch the day slide into a warm and welcome evening. Go Greek; try an ouzo with lots of ice and a little water, or savour the rich aroma and taste of a Metaxa, or, why not an iced
coffee; a frappe; with sugar, milk or even ice cream added to suit your taste; really refreshing! We serve a variety of beers, spirits, soft
drinks and exotic
cocktails with a special
cocktail on offer each evening. Later, after a really good meal and a leisurely stroll, join us again for a nightcap or two to round off yet another perfect day.
There are direct flights to Kavala
airport; Megas Alexandros; from Athens all year round and from many European destinations during the summer season. From the
airport you can take a
taxi or hire a car to Keramoti port, which is situated 15 minutes away. The approximate journey time across on the (car) ferry is 40 minutes. There are also flights from abroad to Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is the second biggest city in Greece and it is about 165 km away from Kavala. From Thessaloniki you can hire a car or you can take the bus. The journey to Kavala lasts 2 ½ hours. As you reach Kavala you can take the (car) ferry to Prinos (1h and 20min journey) or by flying dolphin, (foot passengers only) to Thassos Town (45min journey). Once you reach Thassos Town you can get to the Kamelia Hotel either by
taxi, by bus or by car hire. It takes about 15min. The roads are good and the views magnificent. There are excellent bus services which run every day, one of which follows the coast road for 100 km. all the way around the Island. The island is suitable for the ones who like to walk, as there are many paths. The largest mountain is called Ipsarion. It is 1204m. high and is accessible for those walkers with a strong constitution. There are a lot of beaches around the Island, for example, Skala Potamias, Golden Beach, Paradise Beach, Aliki, Tripiti and many others. In Thassos Town (Limenas) there are many archaeological sites to visit like the Acropolis of Thassos, the ancient theater where a festival takes place every summer. In the village of Potamia you can visit the museum of Polignotos Vagis. He was a famous Thassian sculptor. A short way past Aliki Beach there is a big monastery dedicated to The Archangel Michael from where the views to the sea are fantastic. Every Monday morning there is a large and colourful open market at Prinos. If you wish you can see the island from a boat there are
trips which run mainly from Thassos Town. You can also visit areas away from the island like Kavala (the Emerald City), Xanthi (exotic and very eastern), Phillipi (massive ruins originally build by Alexander;s Dad), Thermal Springs and extensive, well marked, areas of archeological interest.
