Tour Listings and Information for Groups Visiting Traquair 2008. We are delighted to accept groups of any size throughout the year and personal guided tours by the owner, Catherine Maxwell Stuart, can be arranged in advance. Guided tours can be arranged outside normal opening hours and sometimes during opening hours at less busy times of the year. During house opening hours we can arrange a guide to welcome the group and give a 5 minute introductory talk about the history of the house before the group is free to tour the house on their own. Free-Roaming Tour with Introductory Talk. Cost: 5.80 per adult, 5.50 per senior 2.80 per child. Guides are on hand to answer questions and we have extensive foreign language room translation if required. The following packages are also available for groups who wish to have a unique Traquair Experience. TRAQUAIR EXPERIENCES FOR GROUPS. Exclusive Guided Tours. Catherine Maxwell Stuart, 21st Lady of Traquair will take your group on an exclusive guided tour of Traquair. Cost:20.00 per person. Guided Tour with Experienced Guide. Cost: 8.00 per person. Drinks Reception followed by Guided Tour. For a unique experience of Traquair we offer receptions hosted by the Catherine Maxwell Stuart in our 17th century High Drawing Room followed by a guided tour. Cuvee Catherine, our own French sparkling wine and soft drinks will be served All guests will be provided with a complimentary guide book. Cost: 27.50 per person. Guided Tour followed by Ale Tasting. Guided tour of Traquair House with an Experienced Guide and finish with a private Ale tasting. This gives your group opportunity to taste all four delicious bottled ales brewed at Traquair in the. 18th century Dining Room. Cost: 13.00 per person. HISTORICAL GHOST TOUR. A superb historical ghost tour bringing the history of Traquair to life through characters from its past. Atmospheric and just a little spooky you can step back in time as never before. With torches and atmospheric flood lighting on the house this is a truly breathtaking experience. The tour takes approx 45 minutes finishing with a glass of mulled wine. Tours can be arranged during the hours of darkness throughout the year. Cost:15.00 per person. Minimum numbers of 15 Guests or 225.00. The following catering can be provided in the High Drawing Room or Dining Room throughout the day which can be closed for exclusive use. Coffee and Shortbread. Cost: 3.50 per person. 1745 COTTAGE RESTAURANT. The 1745 Cottage Restaurant is situated in the old walled garden and has won a superb reputation for its delicious home made soups and lunches as well as its tempting scones and home baking. The cheerful attractive interior of the cottage can seat up to 55 people and the patio and walled garden outside take many more. On a sunny day there are few more relaxing places to have lunch or a snack than under the sprawling apple trees in the garden. A wonderful place for children to run around and for parents to eat and enjoy. The 1745 Cottage was winner of Best Eating Out Place in the Borders (Light lunches) in 2004 and has been awarded a Highly Commended Certificate by Healthy Eating Scotland. 1745 Cottage Restaurant Menu 2008. Homemade Soup of the Day. Our award winning soups served with a basket of flavoured breads and butter or low fat spread. Scottish Smoked Salmon. Served with Brown Bread and butter or low fat spread. Egg Cress or Scottish Smoked Salmon. Freshly prepared with mixed leaves and low fat yogurt dressing. Light fluffy made with local Free Range Eggs and served with freshly prepared Salad. Oven Baked Jacket Potato. Served with a mixed side salad with a choice of filling: Scottish Cheddar Cheese, Coleslaw, Cottage Cheese. Served on a bed of Cos lettuce, char-grilled chicken, anchovies, crispy bacon, olives parmesan shavings, in a low fat Caesar dressing. Home baked Bread served with a selection of Cheeses, Apple, Pickle and freshly prepared Salad. Paninis with a Choice of Filling. Ham, Mustard, Mayo, Swiss Cheese, Vine Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Tomatoes Chili Sauce. All of the above are served with a side salad of Baby Greens and Waldorf salad. Tender Beef Steak served in a Freshly baked Ciabatta Roll with Caramelised Onion and Spicy Tomato Salsa. Served with a side salad of Baby Leaves Tomatoes. Sandwiches made to order. Choice of white or Wheaten bread with a side salad garnish made with low fat mayo. Roast Ham, Egg Mayonnaise, Cheese Savoury, Tuna Mayonnaise, Prawn Marie Rose Low Fat Sauce or Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese. All of the above menu options can be served as child portions. A Lunch Box containing the following items can be provided. A filled wheaten roll (Ham, Egg or Cheese), Wheaten crackers with cheese, low fat yogurt with fruit pieces, one piece of fruit and a carton of unsweetened apple or Orange juice. A daily selection of home baked cakes are prepared on the premises using only the finest ingredients.
