At the pocosin-side amphitheater, music, dance, and theater productions are scheduled throughout the year. Jockey's Ridge State ParkThe tallest active sand dune in the eastern United States (110-140 ft.). The park comprises 484 acres with a park museum, picnic area, 1.5-mile nature trail, and a boardwalk trail accessible to the handicapped. This is the third most popular park in the state. Pea Island National Wildlife RefugeExperience marine fowl up close, including the Greater Snow Goose, wildfowl during the winter, and wading and shore birds during the autumn. The refuge is located adjacent to NC 12 between Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe. Handicapped trails accessible.

Buxton Woods Nature TrailThis ¾-mile trail is located just south of the lighthouse on the right side of the road and navigates in and around the maritime forest of Buxton Woods. center holds a history of the area and light, and is open 9 a.m. 5 p.m. daily. North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke IslandThis aquarium, located in Manteo, is one of three state facilities dedicated to the study and appreciation of fish and marine life native to North Carolina. Our cottages are bright, roomy, well-equipped, and ready for your next vacation. Our smallest cottage can accommodate up to 6, and our largest, up to 10. If you need more space, our duplex cottages can accommodate up to 16 when both sides are rented together. To peruse our cottages, click on the selections below. Also designed for up to 6 vacationers per unit, these newly renovated
two-bedroom duplexes feature spectacular panoramic views of the ocean from the upper and lower units as well as access to the lighthouse via a short beach walk. The master
bedroom features a king-size bed and full
bath. The second
bedroom has two extra-long full-size beds and a hall
bath.

This spacious side-by-side duplex can accommodate up to 8 vacationers per unit. Its ocean view location affords one of the better views on the property, as well as the great beach access. It features under-house entry,
parking, a
laundry area, and outside hot/cold
showers on the ground level. Each unit has

bath and private deck; queen; and two singlesand a hall
bath. This reverse floor plan has the
kitchen, dining, half
bath and living area on the top level, which opens to the ocean side deck. Shell Castle Cottage. Shell Castle is our most spacious cottage, with
room to accommodate up to 10 vacationers. It features
four bedroomstwo masters with king-size beds, full
baths and deck access, one with a queen, and another with two twinsas well as 2.5 additional
baths. Shell Castle also has a large
kitchen, dining, and living area with fireplace and ocean view. A separate den area with
TV and a sleeper sofa offers extra relaxing space for larger groups. Island Fantasea Cottage. This
three-bedroom duplex is the perfect choice for large groups, accommodating 6 to 8 vacationers in each unit. Each
bedroom has a double and a twin bed. It has two full
baths, a full
kitchen, dining area and ample seating for everyone. Located a short walk from the beach, the ocean can be seen from both levels. In 2007 the newly rebuilt duplex East Cottage has
three bedrooms-master with a King and full
bath, one queen
