Don't just take our word for it, here's what some of our guests have had to say after their stay... Having decided to spend a couple of days in the Dales taking in Buckden Pike, we decided to give the Buck Inn a chance as having read old reviews [. ] it didn't sound too encouraging. It seemed the only shining light was the fact it was under new owners. Upon arrival, the Inn looks very picturesque. The new owners were very attentive and helpful, the
room was very comfortable and the food was OK. There is a nice
restaurant which at the moment it serves the
bar menu though they are currently reviewing. The full english
breakfast sounded great but unfortunately was too greasy for me! All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay and was good value for money. member, West Yorkshire. April 2007. I have just had a 1 night stay at the Buck Inn which has had new owners for only a WEEK. Alf, Peter and Julie are so professional and welcoming that you think you have walked into a different hotel!!!! All I can say is now that the place is in the hands of people that care it should be back to being one or if not the best in the area for accommodation and eating out in the Dales. member, Skipton. January 2007. Julie, Peter and Alf took over the management of the Inn on 17th January 2007, three days before I arrived for a 5 night stay. The warmth of their greeting was matched by the cozy log fire in the
lounge. The story of how they had transformed the Inn in the space of three days soon came out, and throughout my stay they were clearly very busy getting things back on track. My
room was comfortable with the usual facilities, there is a lovely
restaurant and a spacious
bar and
lounge. Julie, Peter and Alf still have much work to do, but I have no doubt that in a short space of time they will be looking after one of the best Inns in the Dales, and looking after you. I have just had one of the most enjoyable holidays I have had for a long time, and I hope it is not too long before I am back there. member, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. January 2007

Stretch the legs, intrigue the mind and catch up on your favourite pastimes in this glorious part of England. Gentle Peace. Undisturbed tranquility. The Yorkshire Dales has always something special to offer. Whether you come in high summer with its calendar of special events, in autumn or spring when nature is at its spectacular best, or in winter to enjoy a break in this stunning part of the national park. No wonder poets and artists have always been inspired by the changing seasons of this beautiful part of the country. The fels and picturesque villages are easily reached by car or explored by foot, while the heritage of the region is revealed in a wide variety of museums, art galleries and historic buildings. The Yorkshire Dales offers a priceless gift and a landscape to be carefully enjoyed for generations to come. The
beauty of the Dales is well known. It is an area of many moods. It can be described as wild, expansive, tranquil, charming and, at times, even awesome. However you wish to describe it, the Dales unquestionably include some of the finest upland scenery in the country, making it the perfect place to enjoy, whatever the season. The most popular trademark of the area is the network of dry stonewalls, marking ancient field boundaries. Although this is a dying art, expert wallers still hold contests in the Dales, attracting visitors from miles around. Timeless landscapes beckon the visitor to sample. From Arkengarthdale in the north to Wharfedale in the south, majestic scenery is the setting for picturesque villages, bustling market towns, caves, castles and rivers. With so much to see and do in the Dales, you're never stuck for a great day out. A great many visitors to the Dales come not only to enjoy the varied and beautiful landscape, but also to experience a blend of heritage, history and family attractions hard to find elsewhere. From fortresses to farms and
gardens to museums, it is an area alive with the echoes of yesteryear. Enticing
restaurants, tearooms and a wide range of accommodation all contribute to a truly memorable break. Buckden itself lies on the Dales Way, at the northern end of Wharfedale and consists of the village itself, nestling under the impressive bulk of Buckden Pike, as well as the hamlets of Cray, Hubberholme, Raisgill, Yockenthwaite, Deepdale, Beckermonds, Oughtershaw and Greenfield. Set in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, Buckden is a popular destination for walkers and holidaymakers, with excellent walking and many delightful places to eat and
drink! There is a thriving local community with many events taking place throughout the year. The principal commercial activities are farming and tourism with many
businesses catering for the visitor, as well as for local residents.
