A N V I L C O T T A G E. Welcome to `Anvil Cottage`... an attractive, well equipped, traditional lakeland stone cottage in the heart of the English Lake District. Situated on the western side of Lake Windermere in the small hamlet of Near Sawrey, opposite the infamous Tower
Bank Arms and Hill Top, which was Beatrix Potter's former home. The Cottage was featured on the cover of the Potter book 'The Pie and the Patty Pan' and in her book 'The Fairy Caravan'. Steeped in local history, the detached double-fronted cottage was originally the village bakery, and more recently was the well known 'Molly Green's

bike enthusiasts with a variety of fell routes in the vicinity including the Grizedale Forest near Hawkshead (approx 2 miles away).
Garage provides secure storage facility. As a base for exploring the Southern Lake District, the Cottage is in a unique position, the popular Bowness and Windermere (via the ferry) and Hawkshead areas are within two miles - you can also enjoy the tranquillity of being apart from the crowds. Langdale, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere are all just a short journey away. Fishing. The well-known Esthwaite Water, which provides excellent facilities all year round, is just 10 minutes walk away. Village
Shop - approximately half a mile away. The cottage is privately owned (and regularly used) by John and Heather

Restaurant :- Opposite the Cottage, merely two minutes walk away... back! The Cottage is an ideal base for walking with many routes starting from the doorstep. There are also many dog-friendly walks. A variety of routes in the vicinity gives bikers many options to explore, including the Grizedale Forest near Hawkshead which is approx 2 miles away. The
