Christmas New Year 2008 - 2009. There can be very few nicer places to spend Christmas than in the very heart of Borrowdale, at The Scafell in one of the Lake District's finest valleys, where each year we look forward to greeting friends old and new for our traditional Christmas and New Year programme. starts with afternoon
tea on Wednesday 24th December and finishes after
breakfast on Saturday 27th December 2008, at a fully inclusive cost of £425.00 per person. starts with afternoon
tea on Wednesday 31st December and finishes after
breakfast on Friday 2nd January 2009 at a fully inclusive cost of £295.00 per person. Children under 10 years old sharing a
room with their parents will be charged half the adult rate. Children occupying their own
rooms will be charged in full. Guests are very welcome to extend their Christmas New Year stay with us at normal tariff rates through Reception. Wednesday 24th December - After a warm welcome from the hotel management our Christmas programme commences with a light afternoon
tea in the
lounge. From: 6.00pm - Join us in the
Cocktail Bar for Champagne
Cocktails and Canapes. From :6.30pm - 9.00pm Enjoy a candlelit Gourmet
Dinner in the
restaurant with carols by the Borrowdale Carol Singers, afterwards relax in front of log fires where we serve you with
coffee and liqueur of your choice. 11.30pm - Midnight service of Carols and Holy Communion at St. Andrews Church, Borrowdale. Thursday 25th December - A Very Happy Christmas to Everyone!! 8.00 - 10.00am - Father Christmas will be waiting by the Christmas tree at Reception to greet you before you partake of a hearty
breakfast preceded by Bucks Fizz. 12.00 Noon - Before your traditional Christmas
lunch join us in the

Lounge. Friday 26th December - Boxing Day. 11.30am - Weather permitting we embark from Lodore for a cruise on one of the Keswick Launches around Derwentwater with Brandy,
Coffee and Mince Pies served on board - options are open for those who wish to walk to and from Lodore Landings or travel there by car. At the hotel a light
lunch will be served in the
Cocktail Bar or a packed
lunch will be supplied for those who might decide to walk back to Rosthwaite. 6.30pm - Fancy Dress Ball, with
Dinner served from 7pm, with the theme: Saturday 27th December. After
breakfast we hope to see you in the
lounge for
coffee before we bid you farewell before your journey home. New Year Programme 2008/2009. Wednesday 31st December - New Years Eve. On arrival a warm welcome from the management followed by a light afternoon

The Scafell Hotel has for a number of years been licensed to hold civil marriages on the premises. We offer a number of different
rooms to suit all sizes of
wedding parties up to maximum for a sit down meal of 75. If you should decide that you would like the Scafell Hotel to be the venue for your
Wedding, then you would initially need to contact the Registrar in Cockermouth (
Telephone number: - 01900 325 960) and ourselves to see if your chosen date is available.. One night
wedding bookings over a weekend ( Friday Saturday nights ) are not usually taken, however midweek ( Sunday; Thursday ) bookings are available. 2 Night
Wedding Accommodation Option - £6050. This option comprises of the following: Discounted Bed
Breakfast accommodation for 45 people (rooming lists available upon request). All
room hire charges. Exclusive use of the hotel facilities residents
gardens this includes the Residents
bar,
lounge, Sun
lounge Restaurant for both nights. Hotel Flowers colour co-ordinated to the Bride Grooms preference.
Wedding cake stand knife available at no extra cost. Late
Breakfast on departure morning ( by arrangement ). If your numbers should exceed our occupancy level there are Bed and
Breakfast establishments in the village, all within easy walking distance of the Hotel. This option does not include your reception
breakfast or any beverages, please see below for details. Day Time
Wedding Option. This option is for those who do not wish to book the hotel for sole use or do not wish to have an evening reception. The charge for having your Ceremony at the Hotel depends on the number of people attending the
Wedding and which
room you hire for the Ceremony. The rates for each
room are as follows ( all
rooms are licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies ): Sun
Lounge (holds approximately 15 people seated) £300.
Lounge (holds approximately 20 people seated) £400.
Dining Room (holds approximately 75 people seated) £475. All
rooms have to be vacated by 5pm on the daytime option. This is normally a three course set menu meal and prices would depend on which menu is chosen, prices start from £37.00 per head. Custom menus can be catered for, as can
buffets, snacks, sandwiches etc. Details such as photographers, flowers, champagne, wine during the meal, welcome
drinks and
Disco/entertainment can be discussed once you have set a date for the
wedding. Terms Conditions ( The small print ). A written confirmation is required for all bookings. A £1000 non-refundable, non-
transferable deposit will accompany all bookings. The deposit secures the date booking only and does not guarantee the price any changes would be advised. Final numbers will be required 7 days prior to the event. This number, or the actual number attending, whichever is the greater, is the number charged for. All entertainment
bar facilities will finish at 12.30 am unless otherwise arranged. All accounts will be settled on the day of departure unless otherwise arranged. In the event of the cancellation of the booking the following charges will apply: 16 weeks notice or less; 75 % of the estimated booking value. 6 weeks notice or less; 100 % of the estimated booking value. We do offer cancellation insurance please ask for details. All prices are based on 2009 rates and are subject to change without any prior notice.

The
bedrooms at the Scafell have been tastefully furnished some with traditional antique
furniture, all with
en-suite bathrooms,
TV and
Radio,
Baby listening, as well as
Tea and
Coffee making facilities. Many of the
rooms have views of the beautiful surrounding area and some sit peacefully above the river at the rear of the hotel. The
rooms are centrally heated so are cosy even on the coldest of days. Wherever you stay in the hotel you are assured of a comfortable, spacious, and luxurious nights sleep complete with a full English or continental
