hotel America : excellent hotel and great value Cannes October 1, 2007, Morgan P, Belfast We are just back from a week in the Hotel America in Cannes and would support all the other favourable reviews of the hotel. Location : 4 mins on foot from the train station, 3 mns from the Croisette and even less to the main shopping street rue d'Antibes. 100 yards from the express bus stop to Nice airport an the rue des Serbes. Room : small and compact but has everything you would need. Towels changed every day and the room was cleaned very well. One minor complaint, ther was only one English TV channel - Sky News. breakfast : Excellent value - all that you want reception : Very Friendly at all times and the two receptionists spoke excellent english. Overall and excellent hotel-tightly run. The owner is always on hand and it shows. We paid 130 euros per night for a double room with breakfast. excellent value. We will be back. It was a 100% hit. Just a fex bullet points about this hotel, to highlight the details that were not covered in previous reviews. Convenience : included not only the great location at a five minutes-distance from the beach, but also the added services such as the WiFi connection, for which you pay ONLY five Euros at the end of your stay. Cleanliness : the floor in the room looks fresh and nice to walk barefoot. Attitude : You hear their greetings and see the smiles every time you pass the by the reception in the hotel lobby. You can also see the dirctor as his office is open and he also seats at the reception at times. He seems to be an intelligent and hard-working person. The hotel was very clean, rooms were lovely and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It made the holidays so much more enjoyable. The positive reviews were accurate. This is a great 3 star in a fab location just behind the Majestic, off the Croisette. The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms are clean and bright and at €300 for two nights in a junior suite (which you don't really need) it was excellent value for money. When we return we will book a standard room which looked very cosy. The receptionists can not do enough to help and if you are looking for a central location, basic but very comfortable and clean rooms then do try this. Hotel America Cannes Best Kept Secret must be the best kept secret in the South of France. I found it by accident a some years ago and I LOVE it. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The position couldn't be better 2 minutes walk to the beaches and the Croisette and 2 minutes to walk to the Rue d'Antibes where the shops are just amazing. The is so comfortable and clean, and the choice of food at breakfast is excellent. You can also visit many places (Grasse, Monte Carlo etc.) easily by train, (station 5mins walk away) so you don't need a car.
