Charles Joan Cartlidge. Joan and I, returned to stay at the Ravenstone Hotel, with our Son and grandson, for three days, on the 25 May 2008. We had previously stayed there, on our own, at least once or twice a year, during the 1980s and 1990s. The last 8 years, have been spent taking our grandchildren on holiday, to DisneyLand Paris. Since our last visit in 1999, the hotel has been taken over and run, by Andrew and Debra. As we stepped through the front door of the hotel, it was obvious, that the very high standards and friendliness that we had experienced in previous years were still being maintained. As in previous years, our stay was faultless. The food was excellent and well presented. The rooms, particularly room 5 (superior double bedded) and room 7 (standard Twin bedded), were tastefully decorated, extremely clean. Also Andrew and Debra and their staff were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. They appear to work on the basis that: The impossible could be done immediately. We have stayed at the Ravenstone Hotel about seven times and have no complaints about anything, the food is very good and the rooms are lovely and clean with a great view. Stayed in the new spa room No.18 this weekend 9th -11th May 08, the room is beautifully decorated with a four poster bed and in the bathoom with it's whirlpool bath it was nice to relax in after having a hectic day. Also Andrew and Debra and staff are very helpful nothing is to much trouble if you need any information. We greatly enjoyed our stay, which we hope will be the first of many. This is the second time I have stayed at the Ravenstone Hotel and I cannot wait to go back. Everybody is friendly and nothing is too much trouble,the food is delicious and the service is excellent. Another bonus is you can walk to the Osprey viewpoint, it is only 1 mile away! I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel. Had a great weekend walking and the hotel was perfect - quiet, clean, freshly decorated, good service, excellent food - overall great value for money. We will definitely come again. No osprey as they had moved their nest site but hey - another time! I have recently been diagnosed with Coeliac disease where for medical reasons I need a special diet. A trip to the Lakes was the first time I had stayed away from home since the diagnosis and I was really nervous about how I was going to eat out again. I went for a meal with friends on the 27th April at the Ravenstone Hotel and would just like to pass on my thanks to the staff. They clearly understood the implications of my diet and made a special effort to cater for my needs. I felt included, reassured and confident. Hope to return soon. we stayed the weekend of the 19/4/08 what a wonderful place to be its fabulos suroundings so peaceful and to top it of excellent food. The owners were very welcoming i would strongly recomend the hotel for a quite break at any time of the year. Really enjoyable stay, lovely food and good lounge and games room. Excellent staff. Great location. Very relaxing. If two teenage boys can say that they had a great time in the games room, looked forward to all the meals and asked if we can go back next time, that says it all for me. P.S. Everything was absolutely spot-on from the food to the excellent staff - it makes Monday morning and going back to work even harder! See you again next time. The food and hospitality we received at the Ravenstone was second to none, we were a group of nine celebrating a Ruby Wedding Anniversary, Debbie, Andrew and their team where helpful and accommodating. The celebrating couple had the four posters superior room which was amazing, the views over the lake were breath taking and the room itself was beautifully decorated and well worth the extra payment. The only negative was that the single room was very small and the shower was a disappointing dribble. Highly recommended. Excellent accommodation. The food was very good. A superb setting leading to a tremendous few days. Would recommend the hotel to anyone. Enjoyed our stay immensely and being a coeliac the food was absolutely fantastic. A very big thank you to Andrew, Debra and Harry and all the staff from Richard Susan Manning. Had a wonderful 3 days at the Ravenstone over the Easter break. The hotel was very comfortable and the food was of the highest quality. The full english breakfast was certainly more than enough to keep me going onto thee summit of Skiddaw and also on the Grisedale horseshoe. Evening meals were ample in quantity but excellent in quality. A special mention must be made of the sticky toffee puddding (including the coeliac version). The coeliac menu was as good as I have seen anywhere. Thanks for a relaxing and restful getaway. This was our first visit to the Ravenstone Hotel and it won't be the last.
