Our intimate cellar restaurant is renowned for our traditional English fare with a modern touch. Our fixed price dinner menu is changed daily, so those guests who are staying with us for a number of nights will be able to sample an array of delicious dishes, prepared by our chef. Bedrooms at The Newington. The Newington Hotel offers 44 en-suite bedrooms, all finished to the highest standard. Retaining its period Georgian features, each room is tastefully decorated to create a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We have a lift to all of the main floors which is ideal for guests with wheelchairs or mobility problems. It also ensures that our guests with children are able to easily access their rooms with prams and pushchairs. You can choose from a variety of bedrooms including single, twin or double and family rooms which can sleep 3-4 guests. We have a delightful Coach-House at the bottom of the courtyard, where 14 of our rooms are located. Each room features its own private en-suite bathroom, stocked with high quality toiletries. In your room you will also find a hairdryer, colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities for your convenience. The Creme de la Creme. We have a small number of exclusive feature rooms, most overlooking the racecourse, and each furnished with a sumptuous four poster bed and a Jacuzzi bath. York Racecourse, known as the Knavesmire, has been a favourite amongst race goers since it was founded in 1731. The Newington Hotel is ideally situated for your visit to the racecourse, whether for a private function or to enjoy the racing. Overlooking the Knavesmire Common and York Racecourse, the Newington Hotel is a grade 2 listed building, which was originally built as a terrace of 3 Georgian Townhouses, with stabling and outhouses, to cater for the wealthy traders who settled in York at that time. Tastefully converted and retaining many Georgian period features, our Hotel still boasts original Georgian door frames and fireplace and the original Georgian facade. We have endeavoured to retain the period feel of the buildings through tasteful furnishings, while at the same time offering all of the comfort and amenities you would expect from a modern hotel. Tranquil and private and retaining the original courtyard, the Newington has private parking for up to 30 cars, which is free of charge for guests. Our secure car park is covered by CCTV and can also accommodate coaches. York Railway station is a mere 5 minutes away by car and the city centre is 10-15 minutes on foot, or 20 minutes if you prefer a more leisurely pace!
