Four things will make Butterflies Spa unique: Its location: on the beach in Southern Belize (go beachcombing as the sun comes up), near reef and rain forest jungle, exotic flowers, birds and wildlife. Its size: a small boutique spa where every guest feels special, and yet it will be large enough to offer a full range of treatments with our six friendly therapists. Our adventure experiences: snorkel, dive, hike, kayak, fish, Mayan culture, are carefully integrated in to our relaxing therapeutic services. Our accommodation: luxury air conditioned rooms and suites, where you can pamper yourself and feel safe and relaxed. Guests staying at Jaguar Reef Lodge and Spa have always enjoyed in-room massage, manicures, pedicures and facials. They have also taken advantage of our wonderfully secluded location to enjoy an open air massage on our dock and beach, or beside our infinity pool. June 1st will be the official opening 'Butterflies Spa, a full service Spa located on the south side of our resort. This gives us the opportunity to expand our services to include the treatments modern Spa enthusiasts look for. Our guests will be able to chose from a wide range of Spa services, massages, wraps and scrubs and top-to-toe beauty treatments, hair, facials, manicures, and pedicures. Our brides will be able to look their best for their beach wedding with soft, smooth bodies, flowered hair, and glowing faces. On March 14th 2007 we will be opening booking for our Spa Packages that combine the best of Spa treatments with the full advantages of our wonderful location in Belize. What makes us unique is our wonderful integration of world class spa services, with the natural and cultural heritage of Belize. Spend the morning exploring the magical, underwater, world of the Belizean reef, before returning to our flower filled courtyard for an exotic smoothie and a salad lunch of tropical fruits. Follow this with a gentle Spa treatment that restores your hair and face from the sun and salt water exposures of the day. Take a longer trip to experience the ancient world of the Maya, knowing that you will return to a gentle, herbal soak that cleanses away the exertions of the day, and a massage that leaves you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. See for yourself the striking jungle world of exotic trees, orchids, birds and butterflies. Cool off with a gentle swim in a jungle pool beneath a softly falling waterfall, before returning to Butterflies where you will have a choice of treatments that soothe, relax and refresh you. Join us for Tai Chi by the pool and experience a brilliant dawn, or end the day with Yoga on the beach as the colors fade. Prepare for the evening with a beach shower, a cool swim in our infinity pool, before throwing on your Butterflies Robe and strolling in to a beachside dinner. We guarantee this will be the holiday you will always remember. Bookmark this page and be ready to be the first to book for our June 1st Opening Week. Or call Judy at 1-886-624-1516 to be the first to book for our April 2007 opening.

What is the recommended length of stay at Jaguar Reef Lodge and Spa? What's the best way to reach Jaguar Reef Lodge and Spa from Belize City International Airport? Are your room rates per person? What is the potential for a hurricane affecting our vacation? Are we likely to actually see Jaguars and other large mammals? What is the best time of year to travel to Belize ? Are there places outside of the Lodge to eat? What about crime in Belize? Do I have to decide on tours and diving before I arrive? How bad are the bugs in your area? How do we make our reservation at Jaguar Reef Lodge and Spa? In order to sample the tremendous variety of activities available at the Lodge we recommend that our guests plan to stay with us for at least 7 - 10 days. Too many guests depart from here commenting that they wish they had known that there were as many activities and amenities available because they would have planned a longer stay. Many guests get attached to our staff who treat them like gold and there are often tears shed upon their departures. Many of our guests return a second and even a third time in order to enjoy the many tours and other activities available at the Lodge, a list which is growing every year. Most of our guests prefer to reach us by catching a 15 minute commuter flight to Dangriga on Maya Airways or Tropic Air. The cost of the flight is $108 per person u.s.d. return. We will be happy to arrange your in-country flight. Please fax or e-mail us your arrival time in Belize City and we will take care of the rest. Once you arrive in Dangriga, one of our drivers will be waiting for you at the airstrip and will transfer you to the lodge by vehicle (about 30-40 minute drive). Road Transfer - Dangriga to Lodge. $50 - One way 1-4 pax. $100 - Return 1-4 pax. $15 - Per person over 4 - one way. Road Transfer - Belize City to Lodge. $200 ($225 in 2008) - One way 1-4 pax. $400 ($450 in 2008) - Return 1-4 pax. $25 - Per person over 4 - one way. Please add 10% tax for all land transfers. No, our nightly room rates are per room, based on the number of people sharing the room. Single for one person, double for two people, etc. Our all-inclusive package rates are per person and are also priced based on the number of people sharing the same room. The cabanas can accommodate up to 4 people and the suites up to 6 people. Hurricanes are a reality anywhere in the Caribbean and southern United States during the summer and fall. The central coast of Belize where we are located is considered a low risk for hurricanes and we have not experienced a serious hurricane for over 40 years ( hurricane Hattie 1962 ). Despite the fact that we are not in a high risk area we do monitor the weather channels daily during the season ( June - Nov ) and have an evacuation plan in place in the unlikely event that we are ever threatened by one of these storms. We have made arrangements with a luxury resort high in the Mayan Mountains, approx. 3 hours drive, that we can transport our guests to and accommodate them in total comfort and safety far away from any danger created by such an event. Although this area of Belize, particularly the Cockscomb Basin, is believed to have the world's highest concentration of large cats including jaguar, puma and jaguarundi, actual sightings are quite rare. Remember, these animals are nocturnal, and are generally only active during the evening. You are likely to see evidence of these creatures including tracks, especially in the rainy season. There is however a good chance of seeing monkeys, parrots, toucans, crocodiles, dolphins, manatees and other bird and animal life. The dry season in Belize usually starts later in December and extends through May. The green season --which is the period June through November-- is a time when you can expect more precipitation. These rains seldom last very long, often just a few minutes, and rarely interrupt our touring activities. Yes, there are a few small eating establishments in the nearby village of Hopkins. You may want to ride a bike or sea kayak the mile or so down the beach to experience these intriguing local eateries for lunch or dinner. Crime is quite rare in our area. Violent crimes are unheard of. Statistically, 99% of the crimes in Belize occur in Belize City. You will find the locals very friendly, and they will make you feel right at home although sometimes they are a little shy at first. Hopkins Village was recently voted The Friendliest Village in Belize! (Belize First Magazine). There is no need to pre-book your diving, fishing or other tours as you can do that once you arrive and are settled in. Bugs are a factor in almost every tropical destination. To the extent we are able we have taken on and to a large degree minimized this problem. The spraying program which was started last year using an organic insecticide has diminished the number of biting bugs and the incidence of bites considerably. Although most guests are not bothered by these bugs some are especially sensitive and we do recommend that they bring a good insect repellent with them, especially when they go out on tours to the jungle where bugs are sometimes a factor. Dry season ( Jan. - May ) is often a better time to travel for those who are sensitive to bug bites as their numbers are naturally lower at this time of the year. Effective repellent is always available at our gift shop.
