Hilltop Cottage was the name given this farmhouse built in 1924 as the caretaker's cottage for the Stengel-DeCoppet Estates on 'Millionaire's Row' along the Lake George to Bolton road. From 1921-35, Marcella Sembrich (Stengel), Metropolitan Opera Diva [1883-1909], summered on her estate across the road. Vocal students from Juilliard Curtis Institute who studied summers with Madame Sembrich occupied the 2nd floor guest rooms at Hilltop Cottage. Sembrich's former teaching studio, a few minutes walk from Hilltop, has been a of mementos from her career since 1937. It affords visitors a scenic walk along 1,000 feet of Lake George shoreline. Start your day with Anita's delicious ample breakfasts of German apple pancakes, or quiche with homemade jams and breads served on the vine shaded screen porch. Hilltop Cottage Bed Breakfast near Lake George is a comfortable private residence with clean rooms and reasonable prices. Our eleven room cottage has two homey guest rooms, named after the estate homes once served by Hilltop, which they face. All guest rooms are on the second floor. The hosts live on the first floor. Meadowcamp A rear facing room with Queen Bed plus a Twin Bed, Ceiling Fan and Private Bath in room. Bay View A sunny front room with Queen Bed, Ceiling Fan, and adjacent Private Bath. Also, a nearby smaller room has 2 twin beds to make a suite for a family of 3 or 4, or two couples. Bay View plus twin bed room. Hilltop Cottage in Bolton Landing. Reservations: Must be confirmed by a deposit within one week by check or cash. Deposit for the first night rental is required to confirm a reservation. Check In: The preferred time to check in is 4PM - 9PM, but we try to be flexible. You must let us know an estimated time of arrival (ETA) to ensure our being home to greet you.
