Arenal Volcano Arenal Hotsprings by Night. We pick you up at your hotel. Our route will take us in the direction of the Pacific Coast. start a gentle climb up into the mountains and a cloud forest. You will see coffee growing along side the road, nurseries raising plants for export, hydroelectric dams, and various recreational areas. There will be plenty of places we can stop and you can enjoy the fresh air as well as take a few pictures. Our first stop will be at the Mirador 2 restaurant near La Tigre, for lunch. The Mirador 2 has a rain forest garden with tables spread through. It is quite common to find several different varieties of birds and animals while you wait for your lunch. Our first good view of the volcano will be as we enter the town of La Fortuna, which is about 8 miles away from the volcano. The next point of interest will be the hydroelectric dam that creates Lake Arenal. From here the view of Arenal is usually less cloudy. When we leave the dam we will drive as close as is possible to the base of the volcano. Here it is common to feel the ground tremble and hear the rocks come rumbling down the side of the volcano. After viewing the damage done by its last major eruption we will drive to a hot water river. You will actually see the steam coming off of the water. Now for the most relaxing part of the trip, Tabacon Hot Springs. At the present there are 12 different pools, with more under construction, as well as a waterfall of hot water. Not only does the water sooth your body, but the manicured gardens will please your eyes, but you will be able to see the eruptions from the pools. To supplement the pools they offer professional massages and facial mud packs. Your dinner will be served at the Tabacon Resort, which will give you a view of the volcano spitting fire and lava while you eat. This is a must experience for all. Iguana Park is a private preserve that is dedicated to restoration and protection of wildlife and forests. You will receive a guided tour of their efforts and the wildlife that is naturally found in the area. It is common to see iguanas and you might also see Scarlet Macaw, another endangered species. This tour is considered easy walking. Our next stop will be at the Tarcoles River. This meandering river usually has a large number of crocodiles very close to the bridge. One in particular is 12-14 feet long, while the others vary in size. At this point we are so close to the pacific you can smell the salt air. Proceeding on down the road we approach the entrance to the waterfalls. As we drive back up into the mountains, you will get your first view of the falls. The falls has a drop of over 1,800 feet, which makes it the highest falls in Costa Rica. The walking here is strenuous, at a minimum, and takes about 30-40 minuets in and about 1 hour to walk out. Most people find the view well worth it. At the foot of the falls there are 3 different swimming pools formed by the river. These pools are very inviting, so you might want to bring along a swim suite and a towel. [The tours for this day are intended to be a walking tours, however, with advance notice we can arrange for a horse back ride to the falls.]. After the waterfalls we will head out for lunch, then take the time for a dip in the ocean in Jaco Beach.

This tour is usually done in Iguanna Park 14 Kin from the town of Orotina, which is on the main road to the beaches of Jaco and Manuel Antonio, about one and a half hour from San Jose The Canopy Tour is located in the primary jungle area and is about a 45 minute hike from the tourist center. The tour consisits of 3 plataforms, 2 traverses and a rappel. The clients start off on a hill and climb a small ladder to the first plataform located in a Guanacaste tree about 15 meters high. From there they traverse to the second plataform in a strangler fig 32 meters high. The 3 plataform is 44 meters high in a kapok tree. Following this they rappel back down to the ground level. The climate at Iguarma Park is very warm and usually humid. This is a tropical transition forest between the dry lowland forests of the north and the wet rainforests of the south and is therefore rich in blodiversity, both plants and animals. We recomend to wear shorts and a t shirt and to bring a change of clothing, there are shower facilities at the park. The tour takes around 3 1/2hours. After the adventure of the canopy there is a delicious casado with iguanna meat waiting for you.

VOLCANO POAS-LA PAZ WATERFALL-SELVE VERDE-SARAPIQUI RIVER RIDE. This is one of the best one-day tours available in Costa Rica. It has to be considered a no stress tour, because there is very little walking required and yet you will see some of the most beautiful sights this country has to offer. Our stopping points are all close together, which allows for plenty of low stress exercise. Our first stop will be for breakfast and then we move on to the Volcano Poas. We will be parked about a 5 minuet walk from a point that allows you to look into the creater which is.9 of a mile across. At the present this volcano is considered active due to the gases and vapor it is emitting. Next stop is La Paz waterfalls which is located on the north side of the Volcano and near the foothills. Our lunch stop will be at Selve Verde Lodge, which is located in a dense Jungle setting. After our lunch you will have free time to walk their trails in search of poison dart frog and other birds and animals. Later aboard a covered, boat we will move down the Sarapiqui River on the look out for crocodiles, various birds, monkeys, three toed sloth and any other animals in the area. This boat ride is about 11/2; to I 3/4 of an hour. Along the way we will pass through the heart of the Braulio Carrillo National Park.
