The house sleeps six and a cot is available. There is gas
central heating throughout at no extra cost. The
lounge has a colour
television and gas fire with a large picture window leading to the
balcony taking full advantage of the lake and mountain views. The fitted
kitchen contains all the latest appliances including a dishwasher and microwave. The utility
room has a washing machine, tumbler drier and freezer. Attached to the house is a
garage. A
telephone is available. The master
bedroom has a double bed and a view across Lake Windermere to the Cumbrian Fells. The second
bedroom also has a double bed. The
bathroom contains a three piece
suite and
shower. On the ground floor the third
bedroom has twin beds. There is also a downstairs w.c. and wash-basin. We will accept one well behaved dog but it should be kept away from farm land at the rear of the house, especially during the lambing season. The holiday home is fully furnished but please bring your own bed linen and towels if possible. Letting is weekly. Contact Cumbrian Cottages regarding the price. Gas and electricity is included in the price. A few words about Bowness-on-Windermere. Bowness is a small resort on the edge of Lake Windermere, ideally situated for walking, touring and lake activities. The Windermere steamboat museum is within easy walking distance. The Haverthwaite
steam railway and the National Park Visitor
centre at Brockhole can be reached from Bowness by Lake Steamer. The Bowness promenade caters for all types of boating from cruising to rowing.
Windsurfing and water-
skiing are available nearby and fishing is popular. Bowness is an excellent base for those relying on public transport, as there are are lots of excursions, coach
tours and boat
trips almost on the doorstep. There is a British Rail station in Windermere. Mountain bicycles can be hired nearby. Bowness has lots of interesting
shops and
pubs and many
restaurants, both budget and gourmet.
Tennis, fishing, putting and miniature
golf are within 10 minutes walk. There is a
golf course, an indoor heated
swimming pool and a horse riding
centre nearby. The major fell walking treks are a short drive away. The country lanes around Bowness-on-Windermere have many friendly traditional inns with beer
