Breakfasts! Every visit comes with a wonderful morning meal, homemade special just for you! Don is your
breakfast cook. He prides himself on making you a delicious
breakfast that is a little different than you would probably make for yourself. Don uses only the finest ingredients, mostly grown organically on his farm. We use fresh eggs from our chickens, fruit jams jellies from our berry patches and orchards, a colorful variety of potatoes dug from our
gardens, and flavorful herbs picked fresh on their way to the table. Syrup for your pancakes is boiled here each winter-into-spring from the sugar maple trees surrounding the old farmhouse and up into the woodlot. When we need to supplement the foods we grow, we try to support the local
business people in the area who have the same, high quality standards that Don looks for when planning your meal. All of the
coffees we serve are exclusively from High Peaks Java in Glens Falls. Owner/roaster Derek Java is committed to providing excellent, sustainable
coffees. High Peaks Java roasts very fine Organic, Fair Trade and Shade Grown
coffees. Visit their website at
www.highpeaksjava.com. For those who enjoy
breakfast meats, the bacon, sausage hams we serve come from Oscar's Adirondack Smoke House in Warrensburg. The unique quality and flavor of Oscar's smoked meats have been tasted and enjoyed all over the world from their original wood-fired brick smoke house, built in 1946. Visit their website at
www.oscarssmokedmeats.com. When our berry supply runs low, we pick fresh for your pleasure from
Gardenworks at MacClan Farm in Salem. At
Gardenworks they take great pride in growing and harvesting some of Earth's most delectable foods, fruits and flowers. Visit their website at

The breathtakingly clear vista from Lant Hill Farm flows over rolling pastures, across the valley toward the foothills of the Green Mountains to the 3,900 foot Mt Equinox in Vermont. But that's not what makes the Inn at Lant Hill Farm like no other place to visit. It's a place of
quiet country, with European chalet-style accommodations and the hospitality to match. Nestled into the hillside on a working organic farm, you'll find it a wonderfully different experience from in-town or centrally-located places: The Guest House at Lant Hill Farm is not just a place to stop by for the night, it's a destination. There's plenty to do and see in the surrounding countryside. Short drives bring you to Lake George, Saratoga, and Vermont. Country life experiences on the farm. Lant Hill Farm is a working organic farm set in some of the most beautiful countryside anywhere. There are many opportunities for guests who like to share the farm and country experiences that are available. Most enjoy walking along the field paths and woodlot trails. Runners say that it is the best jog around the block which is probably a few miles. You can
ski or snowshoe right out the door. Around the house there are some old time fun
games to enjoy like
croquet or horseshoes (Don is a farrier). Theres always a comfortable place outside to sit and relax in the peace and
quiet of our hilltop. Other aspects of country life that can be experienced on the farm: Pick and eat: Depending on when you visit LHFBB, you can wander the grounds and find something to eat. Apples in the fall: Helen planted several apple varieties in the small orchard. She also loved her pear trees and the fruit they bore for her special Swiss recipes. Berries throughout spring and summer: blackcaps, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, gooseberries are either in the
gardens or growing wild. Many of them make their way to the jams and jellies for
breakfast. Currants and kiwi are some of the more unusual fruits that Helen chose to grow on the farm. There are several farms in Washington County which offer Pick Your Own supplies of whatever they grow. Nearby you can harvest Goose Island Potatoes or
Gardenworks raspberries or blueberries. Farm chores: Life on a farm is always busy. Depending on when you visit and the weather, guests are welcome to help if they so desire. Gathering eggs from the chicken coop is a daily opportunity, greatly enjoyed by young and old alike. Imagine finding an egg so fresh that it is still warm. Making hay is one of the chores that helps make farmers big and strong. Although the tractors do the field work, it takes manual labor to unload the wagons and stack the bales in the barn. This is good, hard work that makes you hungry for a hearty
breakfast. Maple syrup season is that sweet time of year that reawakens the farmer with the frosty nights and warm days. From the tapping of the trees in the snow, to boiling sap down to syrup, and bottling as the early spring crocus bloom, sugar season is a busy and sociable time of year.
Mother Nature shares generously with us at Lant Hill Farm Bed
Breakfast. Many of the experiences youll have here come with the country lifestyle that the Previtalis have chosen. Its what we get just by being here. Views: All
guest rooms face east to the sunrise and Green Mountains of Vermont. Its a clear, 20 mile vista to Manchesters Mount Equinox. Summer, spring, winter or fall, the view is always breathtaking. Birds: Throughout the day birds come to the feeders by the
breakfast nook. We have lots of the common, feathered friends from cardinals, chickadees, finches and more. Take a walk into the woods and find some more unusual species, too. Stars: The view of the night sky from this isolated BB is mind boggling. With no other houses or city lights to dim the view, the dark sky holds more stars than you can count. We can help you identify some of the constellations and planets youll see. In August the Perseid meteor
showers will astound you with their shooting stars. Wild life: It is common to
wake up to a white tailed deer family in the fields to the east. For those with a discerning eye, large groups of turkeys can be found roaming the farm. You might see lots of cute, small
game like rabbits, chipmunks, fox and squirrels (both red and gray). We offer binoculars to those who enjoy getting up close and personal. Were still waiting to see a moose or bear on the property. Wild flowers and trees: Although we have done a lot of planting on the farm, most of the growth is here on its own. We have many varieties; on one extreme, majestic trees like the mighty oak, and then the other, in what some see as those pretty little purple flowers of the insidious ubiqui-weed. One persons weed is another persons wildflower Weather: We do what we can to provide for sunny days and clear nights, but natures splendor includes clouds, rain and snow
showers whose
beauty can be more breathtaking than sunshine. We need clouds to give us the colorful sunrises and sunsets. We need rain for rainbows. We need snow for our son, Pauls favorite time of year.
