Frequently Asked Questions. How have the villas been laid out? What is the difference between the 3 types of villas and our Beach House? Are the villas located by the beach? What are the main villa amenities? Does the resort provide a baby cot? Does the resort accept foreign currency and/or traveler's cheques? Which credit cards do you accept? Is there an in-room safe? Can you travel to the resort by car? Are there any places of interest on Koh Lanta? Does the resort organize tours and trips? How do I get to the resort? How have the villas been laid out? All villas comprise of a combined living and sleeping area. There are no connecting rooms. The bathrooms, which are partially open-air, feature a cold/hot water shower, but no hot water over the sink. The villas have shutter-style walls, which can be completely opened to allow full airflow. What is the difference between the 3 types of villas and our Beach House? The Star Path villas have a veranda on which there is a gazebo and bathtub. The Veranda villas feature a balcony, the Cottages are our standard villas, while our Beach House accommodation offer two bedrooms, a kitchen and lounge. Are the villas located by the beach? The communal guest facilities such as restaurant, swimming pool, spa and lawn (for recreational purposes) are at the beachfront. The villas sit on a hillside split by a winding track (in places this track can be steep). A beach road separates these two areas. The Beach House sits a few steps from the beach, next to the beach bar but away from our other accommodation. What are the main villa amenities? In line with the resort's Zen-style concept, the interior of the villas is simple but comfortable. There is air-conditioning and a telephone, but most rooms do not have a television. Apart from the single or twin bedding, the villas feature compact low-table sitting areas, a cabinet and a mini bar. Other basic amenities include a hair dryer, kettle, for boiling water and a safety deposit box. Starpath and Beach House rooms include a TV and a DVD player. Various Thai-style decorative items create an atmosphere that makes SriLantas villas unique. Does the resort provide a baby cot? There are no baby cots available. Infants and children under 12 years of age can share the bedding with their parents. An extra bed for a child will be provided on request at a surcharge of Baht 500 per night. Does the resort accept foreign currency and/or traveler's cheques? All payments have to be made in Thai Baht. The resort does not accept traveler's cheques. Which credit cards do you accept? The resort accepts Visa, MasterCard and Amex. Is there an in-room safe? We now have safety deposit boxes in each room. Guests can also deposit their valuable belongings free of charge in the hotel safe. Can you travel to the resort by car? Two ferry crossings separate Koh Lanta from the mainland. There is a car ferry from Ban Hua Hin on the Krabi mainland to Koh Lanta Noi and a second car ferry from Koh Lanta Noi to Koh Lanta Yai, where the resort is located. From the airport to SriLanta Resort normally takes 2 and a half hour. If there is a large cue you might need to wait for the ferry. If you are in a rush we recommend leaving plenty of time. Are there any places of interest on Koh Lanta? The southern part of the island, with the landmark lighthouse, is part of a national Park with virgin rainforest. Lanta Town, the old capital town with 60-100 years old wooden houses and shop houses is worth visiting as well as Ban Saladan, a commercial town on the northern point of the island with various shops, travel agents, dive shops and restaurants. Halfway on the north-south route of the island is the Mai Keaw Cave system. Does the resort organize tours and trips? There is a tour counter in the resort where arrangements can be made for snorkeling, diving and adventure trips to surrounding islands and the thrilling underwater world. What to expect? SriLanta is not a luxurious resort; it is best suited to those who enjoy a touch of nature and the experience of something different. How do I get to the resort? Transportation Getting to and from the resort can take from 2 to 4 hours depending on your transportation mode. - Ferry If you choose to make your own way to the resort by car and by ferry it can take between 3-4 hours. The first ferry leaves from the Hua Hin pier (mainland Krabi) at 7am. The ferry is unpredictable so if you are in a hurry we recommend using our Lobster Transportation mini van and speedboat service. This service guarantees a safe trip and is very reliable even when dealing with late or early arrivals. - Mini Van and Speed Boat Weather permitting this service is by far the best and most efficient way of getting to and from our resort. Our mini van will pick you up from Krabi airport and drive you directly to our pier (50 minutes). From here a speed boat will transport you to our private pier on Koh Lanta Yai (30 minutes) where you will board another mini van to SriLanta Resort (20 minutes). This trip generally takes 2 hours. * The speedboat service is only available during the high season (November 1st through April 30th) Out of this period only the mini van is used.
little more expensive than some other accommodation but well worth the money as the other places never looked at the same standard. It is located a 15 minute drive from the town/port probably almost the last hotel located that far south but perfect in our opinion. Felicity Halliwell Sri Lanta is one of the more upmarket hotels on the island, it is a three star Hotel. The bungalows are all situated at the back of the main entrance and reception area on an incline at the beginning of the jungle, with creatures, insects and all. If you are very squeamish this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a fun and comfortable Thai bungalow experience this is your best bet. The shower and toilet are outside, although attached to the bungalow. Don't be surprised to find the occasional friendly frog in the toilet bowl, lizard or even a bat in the bathroom because yes you are in the jungle!! However the beds (very very comfortable) are covered by mosquito nets and if you make sure you close the door straight after you enter each time you should stay insect free. Tripadvisor review Excellent location. Rooms were as described, as expected: natural surrounding, one with nature, respectful of environment, etc. The hotel is very quiet, and sleep was peaceful (I was in room 313, a very good choice). Beautiful pool, awesome beach at high tide, scenic at low tide because of some rocks. Sylvain Naud If you are an adventurer or if you enjoy to be close to nature you might like it. But we didn't really. There was no TV in our room, the food at the restaurant was expensive and I had to travel by bike to find a busy bar David Twigg There were a few critters as the rooms are in the jungle but overall this was a very peaceful zen like room. Breakfast was great, and abundant. Loved the place and loved being there. Cant help but recommend it. Ucube Lovely staff, a fine restaurant, high quality spa and daily yoga sessions really makes you calm down in a two-week stay. Kirsten Holst-Eklund I really enjoyed my 5 days at this resort. It was far from being a 5 star hotel but I prefer rustic accommodation amongst tropical jungle rather than staying at the Sheraton anyway. The rooms were simple yet nice and I loved the pool area and the front of the resort where the restaurant and the bar is located. The staff were nice but I did have a few problems with communication. Felicity Keenan We recommend this hotel to every one who likes a pleasant and very quiet holiday. Aldo Magali This resort will give you complete satisfaction after traveling through Thailand for a few weeks. A must is the four island speedboat tour. You visit four 'Bounty' islands and experience snorkeling, chilling and eating at the beach, swimming through caves. Tripadvisor review I stayed with my partner at Sri Lanta for 5 nights in November 2006. We had the most fantastic time. We were greeted by friendly staff, who, although their English lacked fluency they checked us in, provided us with a fresh cocktail and took us to our room The whole point of Sri Lanta is that the hotel blends in with the natural surroundings and as long as you are not a complete insectophobe, the insects in your room (of which we had very minimal experience) can be controlled. Pinot very stylish resort, lovely public areas (bar, restaurant, open air spa), generally the staff were very helpful though I have to say some of the staff struggled a bit when it was busy, and yes not everyone's English was great Keith M We stayed 5 nights at the Sri Lanta. We loved every mellow minute of this lovely and laid back resort. Our bungalow..a cottage..was perfect. The staff were helpful charming. Both restaurants are excellent. The Chedi Bar is a great place to watch the sunset. Also, the Spa is of very high standard. The pool is nice as well. While there were a couple of families with small children, the majority of the guests were couples. Lanta is a rustic island. The roads are not good. But do not let this minor inconvenience sway you. Lanta is on the verge of being a major destination. There is a-lot of resort construction happening. In 10 years, it will be another Phuket. I would catch it now, before it changes. Mayatroopa
