What about the airport? The St. Kitts airport is very modern, handling up to DC10's. Taxi cabs are waiting if you don't have other transportation. Caribreezes exclusive taxi will pick you up. Q. How is the weather? Great. Most days are sunny with a refreshing breeze. Temperatures are very moderate, typically in the 80's, however, we do get enough rain to keep the island lush and green. St. Kitts is known for it's plentiful fresh water supply which is safe to drink right from the tap. The food is plentiful and fresh, healthy, and available in just about any style you might choose. Don't be afraid to try the local dishes they are superb. Q. Is the villa handicap accessible? Yes. The villa was designed using ADA guidelines. Q. Are Credit Cards accepted? Major credit cards are accepted at most establishments. Beach bars/restaurants typically accept only cash but will generally take either EC or US currency. Q. How far is it to the beach from the villa? You can see the Atlantic Beach from the veranda as it is only about 500 yards away. However access is across the golf course and that is discouraged, especially during golfing hours (7am -5pm). The nearest Caribbean beach is about 1 1/2 miles (2k). Q. Should we reant a car? Airport pick-up is included in your rate. Our driver will pick you up at the airport and will deliver you to your home in St. Kitts. There are restaurants, beaches and shops located in Frigate Bay where the villa is located and, if you are an energetic walker, you could walk to these. It is not recommended to attempt to walk at night as the roads are busy and lighting is not great. Taxis are plentiful, reliable and fairly reasonable. If this is your first trip to St. Kitts, you may find it is more comfotable to use taxis for your transportation, especially at night where you may find driving on the left after dark in an unfamiliar place more of a challenge than you want! If you want to rent a car, we have Thrifty, Hertz, and Avis ( check out their websites to make an online reservation) as well as local firms. You will need to acquire a local temporary driver's license which you can do at the rental agency if you have a valid driving permit and a photo id. Q. Are there Grocery Stores? There are 2 major brand (one is an IGA) supermarkets about 3 miles from the villa. It helps to remember though, you are on an island where almost everything is imported so particular brands ar even somtimes basics may not always be available. Q. Do we need to make tee times in advance? The Royal St. Kitts golf course is an easy walk from the villa. Can I use my cell phone on island? Cell service is available around the island. Be sure and call your service provider to activate the international calling feature. that would be a good time to inquire about the rates since these calls are generally not part of standard calling plans.
