A pleasant stroll along the boardwalk reveals Halibut Cove at it's best. Local artists showing in three galleries provide a variety of talents. The Saltry restaurant, with it's fine menu, is open for lunch and dinner. (Reservations required.). Private Cabins: we offer furnished private cabins in quiet settings. Full kitchens have a stove and refrigerator, pots and pans, outside Bar-B-Q. They each can sleep from 3-6, with comfortable beds and all bedding is supplied. You will need to bring your own food. We are located on Ismailof Island and are within walking distance of the beach, Saltry restaurant, ferry, and galleries. Finding no roads in Halibut Cove, but rather over 12 blocks of boardwalks that border the waters edge, all with spectacular scenery, you will be in for a relaxing, romantic stay. Because of it's somewhat remote location and the limited number of visitors your visit to Halibut Cove is assured to be a private adventure. Halibut Cove is located across Kachemak Bay from Homer, Alaska, along the base of the Chugiak Mountains and Kachemak Bay State Park. It is nestled along the shore of Kachemak Bay, creating one of Alaska's most beautiful and scenic places. You will find Ismailof Island stretching 1 miles through the center of Halibut Cove creates not only a natural shelter, but also an enchanted home to those who live there. The community of Halibut Cove is made up of a unique combination of fisherman, artists and craftsmen. Upon your arrival you will have the opportunity to see and enjoy the beauty of our magical home and explore this for yourself. Attractions And Visitor Services: Sea Kayaking, boat tours, Gull Island tour, wildlife, scenic views, state park, trails, picnic areas and 3 art galleries: Sea Kayaking - We now offer kayak rentals. Explore Halibut Cove. The Experience Gallery enables you to see the work of over a dozen local artists. At Diana Tillion's Cove gallery you will find her world famous octopus ink and watercolor paintings. Alex Combs is a painter and potter. The Saltry restaurant offers excellent dining for lunch and dinner. Artist Writers workshops. Transportation: Float plane, Own boat or aboard the Kachemak Bay Ferry, M/V Danny J which has 2 runs daily leaving the Homer harbor on the 12:00 noon tour or the 5:00 p.m. dinner run. Leaving at the bottom of ramp 1, of the Homer boat harbor, the noon tour will take you by the Gull Island bird sanctuary. The wildlife in Kachemak Bay is plentiful with otters, seals, whales and porpoise sharing the clear ocean waters.
