For a property the size of the Rose Garden - it sprawls over 70 acres - it is remarkable how smoothly the different parts flow into each other. Discover The Rose Garden. Thai Village and Cultural Learning Centre. Rose Garden’s award-winning Cultural Centre transports you into a typical Thai Village, where villagers guide you through some of the iconic experiences of Traditional Thai Living. Guests can learn about silk-weaving, pottery-making, umbrella-painting, martial arts, fruit carving, garland-making, rice-pounding and cultivation. Watch the rich displays of Thai period costumes or the preparation of the fiery papaya salad (som tom) or the sweet snacks khanom. Learn about the care of elephants, and help feed these animals that play such an important role in traditional Thai lifestyles. Enter a theatre where the stage represents a typical village and village square, complete with traditional Thai houses. Beginning with the simulation of daybreak in the village, the lively animated show highlights traditions, customs and dances from the north, south, central plains and the north-eastern plateau. During the show, you see representations of Thai life - from the stages of Buddhism, to the Nagee Saran and Harvest dance, rituals to mark the cycles of the village’s crops. Witness the noise and drama of Thai kickboxing and sword fighting; and view a village wedding ceremony. Then finish the show in an energetic combination of dances from Thailand’s four main regions - including the skilful and rhythmic North-eastern Bamboo Dance.Thai Cultural Show: Starts at 2.45 pm daily.

The Rose Garden’s 70 acres of land houses one of Thailand’s most noted Botanical Parks. Within it, find a series of zones covering educational and medicinal purposes to areas made purely for fun and the imagination, such as the Animal Lawn featuring yes, animal-shaped hedges - origami, Rose Garden style. For nature lovers, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Botanical Gardens and admire the impressive diversity of native tropical flora and fauna, starting from the historic and sacred Pikul tree. Enjoy the rich scents of the Herbal and Bougainvillea Gardens, or the unique Native Aromatic Flora Garden. Views numerous varieties of Thailand’s iconic flower in the Orchid Lawn, or discover over 30 different varieties of banana palm. Whatever your interests and no matter how many times you‘ve walked round the Rose Garden, you will always find some new aspect of its gardens that will delight and surprise you. But before you set off, be sure to read our Rose Garden Story to appreciate that all this was initially the vision of one woman.

You notice the difference in the Rose Garden’s cuisine as soon as you sit down to enjoy an appetiser at the property’s flagship restaurant, Inn Chan. The ingredients here taste fresher, the flavours more intense. It comes from director Arrut Navaraj’s passion for food. Country-style cuisine means never compromising the food for the sake of convenience, he says. I’m quite a foodie and, beyond making sure the food tastes good, we try and do things the traditional way, the way it used to be. For example, we make our coconut milk, most houses in the villages still do that. The coconut milk in the ice cream is made the traditional way. We take the trouble to do that. Most houses grow their fruits and vegetables in their back garden. Most go to riverside markets to buy their groceries. Khun Arrut says the menu aims to be true to traditional styles of presentation - such as spicy shrimp paste dip with mackerel - and dishes are cooked with fresh ingredients picked from the gardens. By developing cottage industries around the property, the Rose Garden enjoys a plentiful supply of fresh herbs and coconut milk. It is planning its own Organic Farm across the river to ensure a steady supply of its own vegetables and spices for its restaurants. The Rose Garden tries not to over-sweeten its food and provides appropriate levels of bitterness and/or spice for different palates, unlike in other more Westernised-style Thai restaurants where such flavours may be dulled down. At the Rose Garden, guests are not short of dining options from Inn Chan to the atmospheric open-air Pae Suan Sampran offering country-style river cuisine.

Massage is an important component of traditional Thai living. Centuries ago, Thai healers used the art of massage to help rid Thai people of aches, pains and anxiety, and to restore lost vitality. The Arusaya Thai Wellness Experience is Rose Garden’s own authentic boutique Thai spa. Set in a serene herbal garden in a century-old antique Thai house, the Spa is a quiet haven next to the lake. It offers herbal compresses picked straight from the garden, and essential oils you can personally select to restore vitality, or to just lull you into a deep sleep. Certified therapists and trained Thai Traditional Medicine experts work in seven air-conditioned rooms, en-suite with bathrooms, and three steam rooms.
