The Tides is open year-round. Each of our accommodations offers thoughtful appointments and amenities without compromising the legacy of luxury evoked by The Tides. Newly and tastefully restored and decorated, our inviting two-room suites all have an oceanfront bedchamber, a formal parlor with cable television, VCR, private telephone with data port, and a private bath. All suites have fireplaces.All of the guestrooms at the Tides have cotton robes, luxury linens, extra pillows and down comforters for your comfort. The Master Suite is very romantic with a stately mahogany king-size 18th century decor four poster bed adorned with sheer soft gold fabric. The room, with panoramic windows, overlooks the English gardens and the Great Lawn, which runs down to the sea. The rich sapphire blue of the silk drapery treatments and the softer blue, coral and gold of the oriental brocade print bedding and gas fireplace make this a stunning retreat. The traditional classic parlor is decorated with white French chairs and a deep rose damask sofa and has TV, VCR and telephone. The luxurious tiled bath has a Victorian claw foot tub and separate tile shower.Rate: $395. The Ocean Suite has water views from every room including the formal parlor and bedroom. The spacious parlor is elegantly furnished in soft tones of ivory and taupe with upholstered print high-back chairs. The ivory damask window treatments frame the breathtaking view of Frenchman Bay from both the parlor and the bedroom. The parlor has TV, VCR and telephone. Pass through the arched doorway into the separate bedroom, graced by a mahogany queen-size four poster bed that is enveloped in a beautiful floral sheer fabric. The richly woven black and gold fabric of the spread and pillows on the bed create a charming and romantic retreat. Fall asleep before a view of the water and with the warmth of a burning fireplace. The tiled bath has a large tiled shower. Rate: $375. The Captain's Suite, with the most commanding view of Frenchman Bay, offers complete privacy on the third floor. The gracious parlor, with its white trillium sofa and leopard print high-backed chairs and safari decor, along with the fireplace, make this a comfortable and relaxing retreat. The bedroom is graced by traditional furnishings, including a mahogany queen-size French Rococo style bed. The handsome ornamented fabric in taupe on the windows and the bedding in taupe and black make this suite especially inviting. The light filled tiled bath has a Victorian claw foot tub and a separate tiled shower. The suite has television, VCR and telephone. Rate: $375. The Mate's Room, on the front of the house, is beautifully furnished with a mahogany four poster bed and traditional chairs, and has TV, VCR and telephone. The English toile print fabric of rich scarlet and vanilla on the bedding and elegant canopy and coordinated window treatments create a room that is charming, stylish and comfortable. The tiled bath has a large walk-in glass and tile shower. Rate: $275. The rates cited above are for two persons, include a full gourmet breakfast, and are subject to a 7% Maine sales tax.

Particulars Policies. Reservations for the summer and fall are recommended well in advance. as The Tides is usually full for most of June through the end of October. There is a minimum stay of two nights. of the full amount for a one or two night stay or 50% of the total for longer stays is required at the time of reservation. Deposits may be made over the phone with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or by personal check received within ten days of making the reservation. A full of the deposit (less a $40 processing fee) will be made if we receive notice of your desire to cancel at least 25 days prior to your first night's stay. Check In Check Out. Please call ahead if you will be arriving later. Check out by 11:00 am so that we may get the accommodations ready for the guests who follow you. are welcome at The Tides; however, due to zoning restrictions on the number of guests we can accommodate, each suite or room is limited to two persons. have facilities to accommodate pets. Please click Off-Season for more details. Weather The average high low temperatures for the ever-changing coastal Bar Harbor weather are: The evenings in Bar Harbor are usually pleasantly cool. However the Tides does have air conditioning for those occasional overly warm nights. You can reach The Tides, via I-95 North. Follow I-95 to the Maine Turnpike. Take Exit 6A to I-295 to Portland. On the other side of Portland, continue on I-95 to Bangor. Take Exit 45A to I-395 for 5 miles to US Rt. 1A to Ellsworth, where Rt. 1A is joined by State Rt. 3, which you take into Bar Harbor. Approximately 2 miles past the Acadia National Park entrance, turn left on to West Street (just after the large SPEED LIMIT 25 sign), and go about 2 blocks to the large yellow house on the left. For a. (and a longer) drive, take US Rt. 1 from Boston to Ellsworth, then Rt. 3, and follow the foregoing directions. Or, take I-95 to Augusta and pick up Rt. 3 there to Ellsworth. If you fly into Bangor, take I-95 South to I-395 and follow the directions above. From Bar Harbor/Hancock County municipal airport, turn left on to State Rt. 3 at the airport exit, and proceed about 12 miles to Bar Harbor. Rental cars are available at the airport.

Bar Harbor is a wonderful location for a very secluded mid-week or week-end escape. Off-season activities in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area include hiking, cross-country skiing, antiquing and just relaxing in a luxurious setting.
