Mr Simpson, April 08. Convenient location for shops. Hotel staff friendly. Food in restaurant was really nice. Mr Ibbotson, February 08. This hotel is in an excellent location and has the valuable benefit of a free car park. It is very comfortable and was very good value. We would use it again without hesitation. The location of the hotel was ideal - just a few minutes walk from the Minster and City centre. We were able to park up and leave the car until we were ready to leave York. The room was clean, comfortable and comparatively quiet though it was adjacent to the car park. Towels were changed daily the shower was hot and powerful. Overall excellent value for money we would certainly stay again. Mr Fraser, January 08. We were met by very friendly reception staff who advised us of everything we needed to know. The dining room staff are a credit to the hotel as they were very helpful and extremely friendly, nothing was too much bother. We would certainly consider staying at this hotel when next we visit York. Mrs Leckie, November 07. Central location. Very clean room with all the necessary facilities. Mr Rigby, October 07. Good Food with an intimate restaurant. Convenience for city centre. Mrs Bird, October 07. Very helpful receptionist and staff and car park very handy at rear of hotel. Mr Greavenor, October 07. We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions, mainly due to the excellent location and the parking facilities. The hotel is always more than adequate. The staff are friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the breakfast is great. We will definitely stay again. Mr Boulter, September 07. Good location in York. Nice touches in hotel room e.g. tea/coffee bathroom accessories. Mr Pownall, September 07. The food was top class and the staff very friendly and helpful. The fact the hotel had a car park was also a plus. Mr Clark, September 07. Very convenient location and excellent breakfast. Very good value for money and we were happy with our room. The room was quite big and although we were at the front of the hotel which is on a main road it was quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and could tell it was freshly cooked which is great!!! Would return and recommend to friends and clients. The hotel was very clean, room and bed extremely comfortable, staff all very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Would I go back? Yes! Looking forward to it. Closeness to everything we wanted to do. Good sized parking. Mrs Hamilton, May 07. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast. A nice change from the buffet food served at most hotels. The hotel breakfasts were excellent, the staff were friendly and very helpful and the room was comfortable and quiet. The price was very good for a hotel so near the centre. One could hardly ask for more. When I next visit York I would certainly come again. Mrs Gravenor, April 07. Have stayed here on numerous occasions, due to great location and good car-parking facilities. We love this hotel, especially the lovely breakfast. We will definitely stay again. Excellent central location with good off street parking. Ideal for an overnight stay or to explore the charms of York. The hotel was in an excellent position, very close to York Centre and with the added bonus of a car park. The breakfast was excellent and the staff so friendly. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we would certainly use it again ourselves. Mr Mrs Mellin, March 07. We stayed at your hotel a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you. Ms Barker (Commission for Local Administration in England), March 07. Please can I say thank you very much for the use of the Ebor room this morning. The room was laid out perfectly and a lot of people commented on how good it looked when they walked in. Also; thank you for the supply of tea/coffee/water etc and the fabulous pastries. It was clean and very comfortable and most of all excellent value for money! The staff couldn't be more helpful. Mr Horne, February 07. The Hotel is located very close to the city walls, which makes it a good starting point. The hotel is friendly and the staff were polite. The Room was very spacious, and comfortable. Finally breakfast was quality (especially after an evening out) will defiantly visit again!!! Mr Collis, January 07. Quiet location close to the centre of York. Private car park which made travel arrangements very convenient. Mr Ogdon, January 07. Just to let you know that I stayed in your hotel along with my wife and I would like to thank you and your staff for a very easy and comfortable stay, it was a very welcoming atmosphere and I would most definitely stay there again. Many thanks The Goring Chamber Choir, January 07. Now that we are home again and recovering from the festivals I must write to thank you, and all at the Minster Hotel, for giving us such an enjoyable stay over New Year. Everyone was most complimentary about the hotel and all the staff, for whom nothing seemed to be much trouble. All our dietary requirements were met and meal times moved to fit in with our busy schedule. The Goring Chamber Choir, January 07. The hotel was ideally placed and the staff so very friendly and helpful. Have stayed here a few times now and keep going back. The rooms are good well furnished, they do a really good English breakfast, and the staff are always very pleasant, but the real plus from our point of view is the Minster hotels location just; 5 minutes walk and you are right in the City centre and this hotel has ample car parking.

Blue Bridge Hotel : History. SPANNING YORK'S HISTORY. When the Romans came to Britain in AD71, they already had a bit of experience of world travel. They knew a good place to stay when they saw one and chose the site of The Blue Bridge (where the River Foss meets the River Ouse) to build one of their most important fortresses in Britain. Many others were also attracted to stay at this same site. The Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans, Plantagenets, Tudors and Georgians all added to York's rich history. With so many distinguished visitors to the site of the Blue Bridge throughout the ages, the Blue Bridge Hotel is part of the rich seam of York's history and an ideal site for your stay in York. We look forward to welcoming you. The site that has become the City of York was an ideal location to occupy since the earliest of times being both safe and well provided with the necessities of life. A wooden drawbridge with its structures always painted blue, has stood here since 1736. The bridge crosses the River Foss at Saint George's Field where a festival and pageant used to be held on Saint George's Day to commemorate the Patron Saint of England. There also used to be a ducking stool here which was first used for the correction of females who;used fake measures or brewed bad beer; but it was also later used to punish females who were;flyters or scolds;. Happily there has been no need for the ducking stool for many many years as customers are nowadays invariably happy with York's hospitality.
