Fishing can be arranged nearby, on the banks of the Ettrick,Yarrow or Tweed, or on local lochs, or if you prefer horse riding, stables within a short drive can provide horses or ponies for hill-trekking or instruction. If you're into walking, there are many walks radiating from the hotel, or if you're fit enough, drive over to Melrose and climb the Eildons to realise why the Romans used it as a sentry point ( they had quite a large settlement in the Borders ).
