High Mountain Heli-Skiing uses a new Bell 407 helicopter to access the terrain. The 305,000-acre terrain consists of ranges south of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, including all of the Snake River and Palisades Mountain Ranges, and portions of the Hoback, Teton and the Gros Ventre Mountain Ranges. Vast open bowls, steep chutes, enchanted forests and glades can all be yours to explore. A day of heli-skiing consists of six runs, approximately 12,000-15,000 vertical feet, transportation to the heli-pad, and lunch at the Heli-Deli. Skiers are generally grouped according to ability, in order to optimize the enjoyment for everyone. Groups consist of five clients and one guide, the maximum number of groups during a heli day is four (20 guests). Anyone going Heli-Skiing should be of an advanced to expert skiing ability, able to make good parallel turns. With the advancement of powder and fat skis, powder skiing experience is not completely necessary. Fat ski rentals (the new Rossignol B4) can easily be arranged right in our shop, and are always encouraged. Snowboarders are also welcome on heli-ski outings. They should also be of advanced to expert ability, able to hold an edge on a traverse and carry their speed across any flat areas. The guide will always keep you informed of what is to be expected. Escape Into Winter Package Available January 5 March 29, 2009. Rediscover the joys of winter at the Rusty Parrot Lodge Spa in Jackson, Wyoming, as we transform the season from dreary to divine with an out-of the-ordinary three-, four- or five-night Escape into Winter getaway package. On the first day, enjoy a half-day tour, accompanied by a Wildlife Expeditions biologist, to view magnificent wildlife in winter habitat, followed by lunch at the Rising Sage Cafe overlooking the National Elk Refuge. Stroll through the National Museum of Wildlife Art before taking a group sleigh ride among the elk on the National Elk Refuge. The next day, experience a half-day snowmobile tour in the Gros Ventre Mountain area, guided by Goosewing Ranch staff. Explore the vast wilderness abutting the ranch to spot elk, deer, moose, coyote, bighorn sheep and bald eagles while riding groomed trails in the protected winter range that is only open to snowmobiles during the winter months. On the four-night package, in addition to the above, take a half-day dogsled tour provided by Continental Divide Dogsled Adventures, including lunch. Transportation to and from the tour, located in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, a 48-mile journey through Grand Teton National Park, is included. On the five-night package, in addition to the above, journey for a full day by snowcoach to the Old Faithful geyser basin in Yellowstone National Park. You can make it through any travel nightmares if you know you have a spa waiting for you. The simple peace of mine this brings is divine. My treatment was one hour after my arrival at the Rusty Parrot, perfection. My masseur collected me from my room and escorted me spa room. I started with an Aromatherapy steam bath. Unlike a steam room, the steam bath allows your head to exposed to the open air while you body is embraced by the smoothing vapor. The bath was followed by a stress releasing message which was an invitation to let go, to peace and to absolute tranquility. All you have to do is breath. Everything else is taken care of.My second day of spa treatments was later in the week after a morning of.
