The bath and shower rooms have all been replaced with modern white suites and high quality finishes. All bedrooms are non smoking. Situated in one of the most attractive villages in Perthshire and yet only seven miles from the centre of Scotland, the hotel is ideally located for access to the Highlands and Islands. The Coach House is surrounded by high mountains with stunning views across the River Lochay towards Loch Tay We have seven bedrooms all recently refurbished with five offering en-suite facilities. With great views, feature beds, drying facilities, hotel parking and wireless internet access, there is something to offer every guest. The Hotel is strictly non smoking. is the centre of activity in the hotel and offers good home cooked food all day from opening until 8pm, real ales, fine wines and a large selection of malt whiskies. There is a log burning stove for those cold winter nights, a pool table and plenty of board games. The lounge is also a popular venue for weekly from April to October. We also have parking facilities and an outdoor seating area for smokers and those who prefer to eat alfresco., a new walking route passes, through Killin. The many and varied leisure and sporting activities in the area include: Walking Ben Lawers, at 3084 feet, is one of the many munros in the area. Golfing Killin's par 66 golf course is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Fishing we have our own river bank for trout fishing, and salmon fishing can be arranged if required. The Coach House Lounge Bar. A view of the Lounge Bar at The Coach House Hotel, Killin. The Coach House Lounge Bar is absolutely full of character. Converted from the old stables, the bar has a really cosy atmosphere, with exposed stone walls and original beamed ceilings. Our Lounge Bar is the centre of activity in the hotel and offers good home cooked food all day from opening until 8pm, real ales, fine wines and a large selection of malt whiskies. Local attractions, places to visit, activities etc. Local Events History. The Falls of Dochart, Killin. Killin is perhaps most famous for the Falls of Dochart which rush right through the village, but there are also many other beautiful places to see within easy reach. The village is right in the very heart of Scotland, surrounded by high mountains and stunning scenery, and an ideal location for touring, and for walking, fishing, golfing and many other countryside activities. Walking Munros in Central Scotland. Walking is one of the main activities around Killin. Within a few minutes walk of the hotel you can choose from loch-side rambles to challenging walks like Ben Lawers, one of the many Munros in the area at 3984 feet. During the summer, Killin has much to offer, including an Agricultural Show and Highland Games (one day only, in August), plus many other independent activities. Amongst the many historic places to visit is Finlarig Castle, built in 1609 and former seat of the Campbells. The castle has a beheading pit where The Maiden - a guillotine - was used. The area is steeped in history: at Balquhidder, Rob Roy spent his last days; at the Pass of Killiecrankie the English were defeated by the Jacobites under Bonnie Dundee in 1689; the Highland Folk Museum at Kingussie has a Hebridean blackhouse, water-powered clack mill and lots more to see. Vegetarian dishes are marked (v). Creamy Tomato soup with a hint of Basil served with bread Butter (V). Traditional chunky vegetable soup served with bread butter. Prawns in our own recipe Marie Rose sauce served with melon. Breaded Garlic mushrooms served with a sour cream chive dip. Brie and Mango wrapped in a filo pastry served with salad leaves drizzled with Balsamic vinegar. A casserole of Scottish beef with onions, mushrooms bacon simmered in a red wine sauce. Strips of Scottish beef wrapped around pork sausage sage onion stuffing in rich onion gravy. Chicken breast cooked with sweet peppers onions in a rich tomato sauce. Somerset brie spiced plum tart served with side salad (V). A dark chocolate sponge pudding covered in a rich chocolate sauce. Hot toffee sponge pudding covered in a delicious toffee sauce. A light textured treacle sponge covered in creamy custard. Raspberry mousse on a biscuit base, decorated with respberry sauce white chocolate cream. A duo of white dark chocolate mousse on a biscuit base topped with chocolate fudge chocolate shavings. Passion fruit vanilla ice cream marbled together covered in passion fruit sorbet. Mint ice cream covered in a hard dark chocolate shell. Mature Scottish Cheddar cheese with Branston pickle (V). Succulent pieces of chicken breast in mayonnaise.
