Discover them all! Visit the Motel Office for area maps and directions. Ogunquit Moody Beach We are about a ¾ mile walk (2 minute car ride) to the gorgeous Moody/Ogunquit Beach. The Main Ogunquit Beach, Footbridge and Moody are each sections of the 2 mile stretch of The Ogunquit Beach. Beach parking for the Summer is $8.00 Daily. No charge after 4:00 at the Moody Footbridge Beach Parking Lots. The Ogunquit Trolley services The Main Beach Footbridge. Wells Beach Free all day! Wells Beach Drakes Island Both are a 5 minute car ride or about 12 minute bicycle ride and are also on the Wells Trolley Line. Beach Parking at the end of Mile road is free and a nominal fee is charged to cover the cost for lifeguard protection and beach cleaning at the Wells Beach Lot and the jetty at Drakes Island additional parking is also located at the end of Atlantic Avenue. Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Parson's Beaches All three are about 15 minutes north. Turn right out of the Motel driveway onto US RT 1 Travel north of the Motel for approximately 4 miles to the Maine Diner Bull N Claw Restaurants, bear to the right on to RT. 9 you can visit these three beaches or visit the quaint seaport of Kennebunkport. York Beach A short 15 minutes South of the Motel, pass through Ogunquit and follow US RT. 1 until you see a sign for RT. 1A. Follow RT. 1A and you will find the lovely town of York and its beautiful beaches: Short Sands and Long Sands. Nubble Light... In May, 1602, English navigator Captain Bartholomew Gosnold met with the American Indians when he landed at the tip of Cape Neddick, a rocky promontory reaching a mile into the. Atlantic, and in 1614 Captain John Smith charted the area. The little island 'nubble' at the tip of the cape (the term 'knubble' is credited to Capt. Smith) is York's most visited site -- indeed, it's one of the most photographed in New England. The Cape Neddick Light Station known as the Nubble Light, at the end of Nubble Road off Route 1A at York Beach, has been protecting seafarers since July, 1879, and luckily the buildings have had relatively few alterations since then. The light is located in a 41-foot tower, 88 feet above the high water mark. The brick tower, 13 feet in diameter and about 18 inches thick, is reinforced with an outer shell of iron sheathing. Automation of the light allowed the last keeper to leave the island in July, 1987, when the property was leased to the town of York for 30 years, while the U.S. Coast Guard continues to maintain the light. Visit other famous Maine Lighthouses is a mile and a quarter long foot path that follows the shoreline from just South of the village center, in Ogunquit, to Perkins Cove. This walk is one of the most spectacular places to enjoy views of the ocean and to watch the surf crashing against the rocks. The area that the walk travels, was originally set aside for all to enjoy in the early part of the century. The path is now maintained by the Town of Ogunquit as a public area enjoyed by thousands of people each year. The Ogunquit Trolley... stops approximately 500 feet away in Moody every 15 minutes to pick up passengers. You can take the trolley to the Ogunquit beach, specialty shops, and Perkin's Cove. The cost is $1.50 for adults, less for children and seniors. The Wells Trolley... stops in in front of our motel every 20 minutes to pick up passengers.
