In recent times there were chickens feeding in what is now a cosy and inviting
garden, reached via the reception area which houses a display of the basket weaving tools used by Lupes father. The hammers, saws and ironwork are almost as old as the house itself. In the entrance you will find all the information necessary for your day out (routes, places of interest) or if you prefer
newspapers to sit and read. The old stable is now the
dining room, and next to it is a peaceful sitting
room with a piano, used in spring for concerts with flutes.
Breakfasts are hearty affairs with natural, home-made products, carefully selected and served at the table: freshly squeezed juices, fruit, home made sweets, fresh toast, jams, butters, local honey, cold cuts, local cheese, egg and bacon, corn bread. Its not surprising that the El Pais
newspaper rated the
breakfasts here in the top ten in the whole of Spain.
Lunch and
dinner are not normally served as there is no
restaurant. However, for walkers, especially frequent from the UK, a special
dinner menu can be prepared, varying from day to day and consisting of high quality traditional dishes. This consists of a starter, main course and sweet, all home-made. As these meals are ordered on reserving your stay, there is a vegetarian option. Instead of a meal we can offer a cold snack in your
room; cold cuts, cheese, fruit, yoghurt etc..

Alevia, a cosy corner in the west of Asturias, reached by a narrow, winding road 3 kms. from Panes, is a village with special charm, faithful to its artistic roots and once a strategic point in the Sierra del Cuera from whence you can enjoy impressive views of the Picos de Europa, the valley of Cares and the Hermida pass. The best views are from San Antonio at the base of the clock tower and a key historical look out point. Alevia is in a strategic position, 10Kms from the Cantabrian Sea to the north with the Picos de Europa to the South and with the border with Cantabria to the East. The village enjoys an enviable position. It can be the base for visiting the National Park or by car within 25 minutes of the Ruta del Cares which begins in Poncebos and includes the climb to Bulnes (the village which gives its name to the most magnificent vantage place in the Picos; the Naranjo de Bulnes). Following the course of the River Deva by car you can reach Potes in 25 minutes. This is the southern access to t he Picos de Europa (via Fuente De). Along the way you can enjoy a visit to Santa Maria de Lebena (a wonderful example of mozarabe art) and the Monastery of San Toribio of Liebana. Northwards, 15 minutes away you can enjoy the beaches of La Franca and San Vicente de la Barquera. A further 15 minutes away and you are at Llanes or Comillas and Santillana del Mar. From N634, A8 Santander-Oviedo take the N621 Unquera turn off towards Panes (N621).After 12 kms. after the petrol station, turn right on the AS-114 towards Cangas de Onis. Immediately turn right after crossing the river and then left. There is a sign which says Alevia 3. Follow the steep, winding new road (PB-2) and after 3kms you will arrive at the village. Casona DAlevia is in the
centre. From Cangis de Onis via the As-114 you reach Panes after 54 kms. Before crossing the bridge, turn left and then left again. There is a sign which says Alevia 3. Follow the steep, winding new road (PB-2) and after 3kms you will arrive at the village. Casona DAlevia is in the

Good Afternoon, Welcome to Casona D'Alevia. History Casona D'Alevia. The lofty Picos de Europa envelop the charming hotel,Casona DAlevia. This farmhouse belonging to their parents has been recreated lovingly by its present owners to include the restoration of features dating back to the 15th Century. They have tried to maintain the memory held within its walls of past lives undertaking a restoration which keeps to the original structure and its local materials of stone and chestnut in windows, doors, and its ironmongery. This has been achieved in such a way as to improve the building without losing its innate characteristics. These remain and are in perfect harmony with its surroundings and the traditional local architecture. The hotel has a family atmosphere with excellent service and offers lodging in a very special place in a spectacular natural environment. In 1997, Marilupe, Applied Arts teacher, and Gregorio, Engineer and Economist, authors of this Project, with their daughters opened their home again now as a hotel to all those that wish in their journey to Asturias; Natural Paradise honour us with their presence.
