garden level (first floor) of the house, this charming
room features a canopy bed, antique dresser and armoire in the
bedroom, and a
whirlpool tub (as well as a
shower) in the adjoining
bath. A back door opens into the
garden and serves as your private entrance. Rate: $95.00/night plus tax. Named for the home;s original patriarch, James P. Conner, this
room at the top of the main staircase was once the Conners' master
bedroom. The antique
desk, pipe stand and doctor's bag will take you back in time, but the lighting and fixtures are all new. The adjoining private
bath features a
shower with a built-in seat and hand-held
shower head. Rate: $85.00/night plus tax. Surround yourself with the romanticism of the Victorian age in this sweet
room. Soothing pastels and French white furnishings calm your senses, and you can wash away your cares in the antique brass in-
room sink. A private

toilet adjoins the

Room. Enjoy your respite in this cozy
room that looks out onto the south lawn and the gazebo. Your
private bathroom across the hall includes a clawfoot
tub and
shower. Policies: Rates are for single or double occupancy, subject to change without notice. Smoking is allowed outside only. Families are, of course, welcome, but the vast majority of our guests come for
quiet relaxation. We therefore reserve the right to use our own discretion when deciding whether to accept reservations from families with infants and small children. Pets will need to be boarded at an area kennel. Reservations/cancellations: Please call or email us to request a reservation. We will require a Visa or MasterCard number, or cash or check in the amount of one night;s stay, in order to secure all reservations. If it becomes necessary for you to cancel your reservation, you may do so without penalty 14 days or more prior to your scheduled arrival. If you cancel your reservation fewer than 14 days prior to your scheduled arrival, you will be charged for one night;s stay. Check-In is between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., unless other arrangements have been made. Check-Out is at 11:00 a.m.

Rooms/Rates Policies. Community Information. This grand mansion was built by Judge James Perry Conner in 1893 for $7,000. Conner was born in Indiana and moved with his family to Black Hawk County, Iowa, when he was five years old. He attended Upper Iowa University, and then returned home to teach for a short while before enrolling in the University of Iowa to study law. He was admitted to the
bar in 1873, and settled in Denison, Iowa, to establish a private practice. Conner married his wife Allie in 1875. In 1880, he became district attorney, and four years later, was elected to circuit court judge. In 1886, with support from both the Republican and Democratic
parties, he was elected district judge of the 16th judicial district. He was elected to Congress in 1900, and was re-elected four times, serving five consecutive terms (1900 - 1910). The Conners had one adopted son, Raymond, who grew up in the house. The house was divided into
apartments throughout the 1950s,;60s,;70s and;80s, and was bought by Dave and Kathy Macumber in 1991. The Macumbers lovingly restored the home inside and out and opened it as a bed and
breakfast in 1993. Traci Comstock and Kyle Heyen bought Conner;s Corner from the Macumbers in 1999 and continued to run it as a BB until 2003, when they sold it to the current owner, As a guest at Conner;s Corner Bed

Proprietor Sylvia Bachmann bought Conner;s Corner in October 2003. A native of Denison, Sylvia is thrilled to be back in her home town after living in New York City for nine years. In January 2006, Sylvia was joined by Doug Rohde. After spending 18 years in Minneapolis, he now co-manages the BB, plays jazz piano around the Midwest, and teaches piano and guitar in the Conner;s Corner music
