The house is situated at the North end of King Harald Street in the centre of Lerwick. We are less than 5 minutes walk from the harbour front and Commercial Street (Lerwick's main old street). Situated nearby you will also find most of the amenities available in Lerwick. The museum and library are just up the street as is the children's play park and the flower park, where you can rest while the children play. Also within easy walking distance is the Clickimin Leisure centre with its superb facilities and up to the minute swimming pool with flumes and river rapids etc. We are also within easy reach of the supermarkets and the shopping centre. Fancy something to eat? Lerwick offers a choice of traditional fare, Indian, Italian or from the far east with Chinese, Malaysian or Thai food. Access to us couldn't be easier. There is free on street parking outside the house and we are only 5 minutes walk from the bus station and little more from the Ferry.

Lerwick is the Islands Capital with a population of around 7,500. It's central location in the Mainland makes it an ideal choice for the visitor wishing to explore the whole of the Island. The Shetland Islands are a group of islands consisting of the Mainland, the inner isles (a short ferry trip) of Yell, Unst, Fetlar, Papa Stour, Whalsay and Bressay and the outer isles of Fair Isle and Foula. There are also many other small uninhabited islands, some of which can be visited with ferry tour operators. The Shetland Islands have strong links with their Norse past and is celebrated each year in January with a fire festival called Up-Helly-Ah. Shetland Maritime links are also very strong and is displayed with it's many regatta's throughout the summer and is also a port of call for the Round Britain Yachting race. Shetland Life and Scenery. You will find plenty of varied wildlife throughout the islands including Shetland ponies, Seals and if you are patient, Sea Otters. Bird life is plentiful with a wide variety of sea birds, including a large breading population of Puffins and Great Arctic Skuas along with many migrant passing species including the elusive Stormy Petrel. Rare plant life is also to be found from roadside verges to rarely trodden hills and valleys.
