Principles of Guest Service. Your comfort and safety are our first priorities. We are pleased that you have chosen St. Martins Bed Breakfast for your stay in the historic Atchison area. Your reservation will be processed promptly and confirmed in writing, via e-mail, fax or US Mail, as you prefer. We welcome you to contact us through this web page, by e-mail or use our toll-free phone (877) 367-4964. Your reservation depends on your providing a credit card guarantee. We do not charge a deposit or any other prepayment to your credit card. Many inns do so. We hold your card number until you arrive and then will accept your payment at the time of check out. If you decide to cancel your reservation, please do so more than 2 days ahead of your scheduled arrival. If you cancel between 24 and 48 hours of your original arrival time, you will be charged one-half of your first nights stay. If you call within 24 hours of your scheduled arrival, we will assess the full room charge. We simply ask that you let us know if your plans change so that some other guest might enjoy a stay at St. Martins. Our regular check-in time is between 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. If you would like to make other arrangements, please call us in advance by using our toll free phone (877) 367-4964. Our check out time is 11:00 a.m. We accept VISA, MasterCard, DISCOVER, American Express as well as your personal check or cash. We reserve the right to substitute a room equal to or greater than the one confirmed to you should availabilities dictate. You will only pay the rate for the confirmed room. We accept VISA, MasterCard, DISCOVER as well as your personal check or cash. The City of Atchison charges a local tax on hotels and bed and breakfast inns; it is 6%. We will also add the applicable Kansas state and other local sales taxes at the rate of (7.3%). If you stay in one of our rooms where the rate is $ 85, your total, including all taxes will be $ 96.31. Children aged 10 and older traveling with adults are welcome. Our home is a smoke free environment. Smoking in our outdoor spaces is permitted. We cannot accommodate pets due to Janet's allergies. St. Martins has filtered central forced air heating and air conditioning for your comfort in all seasons. Our full breakfast is included in your room rate. Please let us know in advance, if possible, of any religious or dietary restrictions you may have regarding what you will eat at breakfast. Rooms are priced for one or two guests. Full-sized twin spare beds are available in most rooms if you add an extra guest. The additional charge, including breakfast for that guest is just $ 10, plus tax. Local phone calls are free of charge and unlimited. Wake-up calls and other inbound calls will be directed to your room. The phones in the guest room only ring when the innkeeper forwards a call to you. Our computerized phone message system is available for those who may call you during your visit. Every consideration is given to our guests comfort and safety. Our home complies with the local Life Safety Code and has a smoke, fire intruder system in addition to an emergency alert system on each floor. Every guest room has secure locks for your protection. You will also be provided with a key to the main outside door for after hours use. There is ample, secure parking in our driveway for eight cars. Additional space is available next door and on the street without charge. All of our guest rooms feature privacy blinds, cable television, VHS player, DVD player and CD player. If you wish, we can make arrangements with excellent local caterers to serve an elegant meal in our dining room for your group of four or more. State licensing regulations restrict our food service to breakfast for our guests. We will gladly assist you with concierge-style support in making dinner reservations, finding local attractions, getting an appointment with our excellent local massage therapist or buying theater tickets at the fine local playhouse directly across the street from St. Martin's and with other arrangements during your stay. The Gentleman's Room. Relax in this elegant queen-sized brass bed. All of the firm, orthopedic bedding at St. Martin's supports your best sleep. You will find silence everywhere at St. Martin's. The thick carpets and the heavy plaster walls soak up every day and night time sound. The room is ringed with heirloom antiques selected both for their functionality and their beauty. Grandfather's desk was made to last several lifetimes, and it has. You may choose to start a personal diary while sitting there, or, like Grandfather, the attorney, you may feel inspired to write contracts. There's a cable-connected television with VCR and a CD player / clock radio tucked into this 19th century American primitive linen cabinet. This is where 21st century electronics entertain you in a 19th century package. Your adjoining, private bath is an ideal place to groom. The Professor's Room. The Professor's Room has a handsome queen sized bed. Every room has plenty of storage, a luggage rack, ample space for hanging clothes, cable TV, VCR, DVD's, CD player and a phone. The adjoining bathroom is private with a hot shower, shelf space for your toiletries, bright shaving or makeup lights and convenient outlets for your hair dryer.

Janet is the guardian of details at St. Martins. She supervises the finances and will give you reliable counsel about local, shops, museums, restaurants and churches. You wont see her ironing your pillowcases, double checking your guest room amenities, or spritzing a delicate linen fragrance on your bed, but you will notice how inviting your room is after she finishes. Janet holds a masters degree in counseling it helped in raising their four now grown children! She currently works as Atchisons parent-educator in the Parents as Teachers program and teaches Common Sense Parenting to area parents. John is the creative force at St. Martins. He prides himself in preparing a breakfast that you will not find elsewhere. He serves delicate souffle omelets or buckwheat crepes and many other specialties. He always adds fabulous fruit trays and fresh-baked goods. John also serves as gardener, bathroom cleaner, bellman hot tub attendant. John is associate professor and chairman of the department of political science at Benedictine College in Atchison. He holds a Ph.D. in political science / public policy. He is an alumnus of Benedictine College. Thats what brought John and Janet to Atchison Johns desire to return to BC and teach. Sometimes your dreams really do come true.

The morning sun and the moon's first light brighten the Gold Suite. Your mood will always be cheery in these elegant surroundings. There's a European feel to the decor and features of Jane's room, starting with the in-room washstand / vanity. Slide open the pocket door and you will find your private shower and toilet. If you like to sleep late in the day, then Jane's room is right for you. It is a double bedded room with a special feature: the adjoining lilac sitting room. You will delight in the special appeal of a suite all your own. The lilac sitting room (with twin bed) is your own private domain, if you choose to stay in Jane's room. Breakfast at St. Martin's. At St. Martins breakfast is a dining experience: the pace is leisurely, the setting is exquisite and every bite and sip will please your palate. Whats more, you get to choose the time you eat. Mark your breakfast reservation card as you go upstairs to dream. We usually serve between 8 and 10 a.m. Every entree is freshly prepared for you. All of the cooking and baking here is old-fashioned, made from scratch. Chef John changes the menu every day. The souffle omelet is the house specialty. So, too, are the buckwheat crepes and there are many other items you will not find elsewhere. Hot, fresh baked items are on the daily menu. Delicious fresh fruit displays change with the seasons, but their style is always impressive. Juices, teas and coffee complement the breakfast. If you stay for five days, you will be served on five different sets of china and with a different menu each day. If you have been here before and have a special favorite you would like to have again, send us an e-mail so we can be prepared. Upon your arrival at St. Martin's, you will enjoy another baked treat: a homemade classic chocolate chip cookie, still warm from the oven, a brightly decorated holiday cookie or some other sweet delight from the chef's imagination.
