About The Isle Of Man Port Erin is a tranquil village built around a picturesque secluded harbour. Its renowned sandy beach is ideal for safe bathing and offers breathtaking sunset views behind Bradda Head. The Anchorage overlooks Athol Park and the Victoria Steam Railway with its museum of historic locomotives. Breagle Glen is just a minutes walk away, where you can play bowls, putting, tennis or basketball and enjoy a meal or snack in the fantasic, friendly cafe. The Erin Arts Centre in Victoria Square is home of the Manannan International Festival of Music and Arts offering a varied programme of concerts. Milners' Tower, perched on top of Bradda Head, was built as a memorial to William Milner, a Liverpool safe maker and is built in the shape of a lock. The clear waters off the coast make it ideal for scuba diving. Rowany Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course at the top of the promenade. Just a short walk from Port Erin is Cregneash village folk museum just one of the Manx National Heritage sites on the Island, made famous as the setting for the film 'Waking Ned'. Climbing from Port Erin to Cregneash you come to the Mull Circle, a megalithic chambered burial ground set on the top of a hill with a spectacular views over the Calf of Man, Port St. Mary, Castletown, Port Erin, Niarbyl, Peel and the Northern Hills. Boat trips run daily from Port Erin and Port St. Mary to the Calf of Man, a nature reserve where you will see many birds, seals and maybe even basking sharks. Port St. Mary is a small fishing port and habour about 1 mile away, where the 'Queenies', small Manx Scallops are landed.
