Some excerpts from the website of The Rock Hotel that might be useful
The Rock Hotel is an institution amongst Gibraltar Hotels and indeed the Mediterranean. Built in 1932 by the Marquis of Bute, the hotel to this day still offers standards of service and guest care from that bygone, more genteel era. Decorated in the colonial style Gibraltar's Rock offers 104 comfortable bedrooms which include a number of suites, junior suites and penthouses. Of all the Gibraltar hotels the Rock enjoys a unique aspect in Gibraltar with all rooms having magnificent views across the Bay of Gibraltar, the Spanish mainland and the Rif Mountains of Morocco. There are many reasons to visit this gem amongst Gibraltar Hotels. So whether it be on business, a Gibraltar short break or Gibraltar city vacation, a wedding ceremony, a holiday with a difference or simply to enjoy the warm Gibraltar summer and mild winter climates, with an ambience that will please all the Rock Hotel Gibraltar truly is an oasis in a busy world.

There is no such thing as basic accommodation at the Rock. All of our guest rooms enjoy the luxury of a sea view, mini-bars, luxurious bathrobes, welcome decanters of scotch and sherry, trouser presses, fully remote controlled air-conditioning and heating, satellite television and radio as well as facilities to make a fresh ground coffee when you want one. You'll even find lollipops by the bedside and ducks in your bathroom! All but a few of our rooms have balconies and our suites and penthouses have CD players for the musically inclined. Rates are per room per night for double or single occupancy. We have a large number of non-smoking bedrooms and two rooms that have been adapted to facilitate disabled use. We are happy to quote corporate and group rates on application. - We endeavour to ensure that we offer our best rates on-line on a daily basis.

We take our food (and our wine for that matter) very seriously at the Rock as we do your enjoyment of it! Our culinary style has unashamedly absorbed influences from both Iberia and north Africa as well as an obvious leaning to all that is good about modern British cuisine. Naturally we also take full advantage of our Mediterranean location and the abundance of seafood available on our doorstep. In fact, our main restaurant enjoys panoramic views across Gibraltar Bay and the Spanish mainland and Morocco's Rif mountains. We feature a daily changing "house menu" as well as a full seasonally changing à la Carte selection that we hope will delight you as you sip your complimentary glass of Manzanilla with our famous herb infused olives. There is also an extensive range of conference, banqueting and private dining menus and of course our chef would be happy to design ad hoc celebratory or corporate menus to suit any budget. Our wine list is varied and extensive whilst representing excellent value. We make no apologies for majoring on some of the fabulous wines that our Spanish neighbours are producing at the moment in a remarkable range of weights, styles and colours. We are proud that our restaurant has been awarded 2 rosettes in the 2008 AA guide.

The Barbary Bar, which opens out on to the Wisteria Terrace, is decorated in a style that incorporates a blend of colonial, Iberian and Moorish influences which literally reflect the aspect seen from its terrace. Along with a fully stocked bar there is also a food menu from which guests can enjoy culinary delights that also reflect our geography and history from sandwiches and steak pies to tapas and tagines! The service is efficient and courteous from members of our team who have been with us for much of their working lives. Relax, listen to the hum of the ceiling fans, sip your favourite tipple and think of Noel Coward. The Wisteria Terrace itself, which blossoms twice a year, really is the place to be on a summer's evening. The views are stunning and in particular from this end of the hotel the view to Africa on clear days is magical, feeling that one could almost "touch" Morocco. Drinks, snacks and light meals are served here and there is a delightful selection of interesting wines by the glass. Our bar staff will gladly mix cocktails from our list or to your own specification if you prefer.

The Rock has two excellent meeting rooms that are ideal for a simple boardroom set up to a medium size conference of 90 or so along with all the options in-between. The Gimcrack Room, which sits at the top of the hotel between our two penthouses, and the Wisteria Room, which has the benefit of being adjacent to a beautiful wisteria covered terrace, both enjoy extensive views of the two continents of Europe and Africa - ideal for those all important coffee breaks or conference lunches. Our conference rooms are fully air conditioned and our conference amenities and equipment are everything a conference organiser or speaker could desire, ranging from sophisticated audio-visual kit and free wireless internet access to a spare pencil sharpener or mini stapler! We are now pleased to offer hotel-wide complimentary internet access to our conference delegates. The Rock can offer a full range of secretarial and business services from simple copy typing, faxing and photocopying to a range of electronic business advantages including free wireless internet technology that will allow unlimited wireless connection for laptops almost anywhere within the hotel.

Our lounges are designed to make the very most of the magnificent views that the Rock enjoys. Afternoon teas, very much in the English style, are served here unfailingly each and every day with a shamefully high calorie count! Soft, squidgy sofas and armchairs are in abundance and can provide a welcome respite with a cool drink after a bustling holiday day or a busy day at the office. As we like the idea of complimenting the traditional with the new we are pleased to say that our lounges are wi-fi compatible and there is no charge for internet access. Above all, these are areas where you can really feel at home away from home.

Our pool, which is open-air and of the seawater variety, sits in its own secluded garden away from the hustle and bustle. This area enjoys magnificent sunshine for the majority of the day and is a must for those seeking that Mediterranean tan. As well as the poolside there is a lawned area for those looking for that extra peace and quiet. There is a fully stocked bar and food is served throughout the day from an interesting and varied menu. There are barbecues and events throughout the summer months and the area is available for private functions in consultation with our banqueting department. Please note that the pool is closed from 6th October until it re-opens on April 1st each year.

The Gibraltar Casino is immediately adjacent to the hotel. Literaly a two minute stroll through the wisteria covered walkway and you are in a friendly, free membership environment, offering the chance to play American roulette, blackjack and brag. There is also a slot machine room with some 150 machines and Bingo nightly from 9pm. Stakes are as low as one pound so this is a casino for everybody. Please note that there is a "smart casual" dress code.
