You will need proof of citizenship (passport preferably, although U.S. and Canadian citizens may use a birth certificate or voter registration ID plus one picture ID.). What is the currency in the British Virgin Islands? The currency in the BVI is the U.S. Dollar, and dollar denominated travellers' checks are widely accepted. We also accept personal checks. What do I need to bring to Tortola? Just bring shorts, T-shirts, bathing suit and one pair of shoes for walking to the beach. If you want to 'dress-up' for our evening meal you may, but this is definitely not a requirement. You don't need to bring beach towels or bug spray. You do need to bring suntan lotion!
