Dahab stands for shore diving, most of the 30 diving spots are accessable by jeeps. Dahab became famous among divers by the “Blue hole” and the “Canyon”, classical, already legendary deep-diving places.. But spots such as Lighthouse, Eelgarden, Abu Thalhal and other diving places with its fascinating flora and -fauna, also the Easy Diving is as enjoyable. Each dive site is different than the next. Gardens, Canyon, Caves and drop offs alternate. Underwater labyrinths fascinates everyone, if you dive through them. Seahorses in sea-grass in the Lighthouse or the lagoon inspire like the Spanish dancer, who can be discovered in Dahabs diving spots even on the day. Our special offer: A one- or more day camel or jeep safari along the coast to distant spots. About some dive sites around - Inmo house reef - our house reef is directly in front of our hotel and our dive center. The reef edge lies only some meters away from our beach. Here you have a dive site that please the heart of every photographer and videofilmer. An approx.. 15 meters deep easily bent coralwall, as well as single coral-blocks offer habitat for innumerable sea inhabitants. From the Arab emperor fish, lion fish, seahorses, groupers up to bluespotted stingray, here you nearly find everything that the Red Sea has to offer. With a maximum depth of 30 meters the dive spot is suitable also for experienced divers and to train diving skills. The simple getting in and out and the direct proximity to the diving center makes our house reef the ideal diving spot for snorkellers and particularly for the Beginner among you. In the night you can see feather stars, shrimps, octopus and much more besides. The bioluminating plancton will be an unforgettable experience for you. The Island - Island, one of the most beautiful dive spot around Dahab. Due to its maximum depth of 18-20 meters it is suitable outstanding for an afternoon-dive. We recommend to wait for the high tide, because you have to cross approximately 20 meters reef table, to reach the entrance. You dive down there, you find it in one of three sand pools. You can dive through it direction the north and then set out for the exit through a coral-labyrinth. In this coral-labyrinth perhaps you meet large schools of Yellowtail barracudas. Seen from above the diving place looks like two islands cling to each other. This enormous Reef-formation grew in such a way that they resemble a labyrinth made out of corals. On the exterior it can be with some luck that you see an eagle rays with their majestic wings. With its wings it slides rather by the water, than that it swims. The exit lleads by a small tunnel, which opens directly on the reef table. This way you will not be bbstructed when exit. 3 pool - the name of the dive site designates at the same time its characteristic entrance. The reef lagoon is divided by coral-walls into three basins, which form the entrance into a fantastic coralgarden on the exterior of the reef roof. In the pools are frequently yellowtail-barracudas, so that already the way by the pools to the coralgarden becomes an experience for you. The formations of the hardcorals as well as the drop off following at the coralgarden are more than only worth seeing. The coralblocks outstanding from the steep wall forms a unit with its inhabitants, the glass fishes. If you turn yourself toward the pools in south direction, you cross over a large sand surface. On it you can observe other rays in the morning hours. The Canyon - the diving place Canyon, which ranks among the most well-known of Dahab, has to offer a lot of diving variations for you. A lagoon pulls itself nearly directly to the beach. Therefor the entrance is very easy. If you come from the lagoon into the open water, a beautiful coralblock blocks the free view into the clear blue of the Red Sea. If you turn yourself now to the north direction, you come to a crack in the reef plateau, which probably resulted from an earthquake. This Canyon stretches to the plateau and begins on approx. 12 meters with the fishbowle. The fishbowle looks like a small Pizzaoven and has two entrances respectively exits. We recommend (if your diving-knowledges permits), to follow the gap down to approximately 19 meters and to drop yourself there by a broad opening down to 30 m. Here the Canyon opens to a cave, which through-dive it upward. By the fishbowle following to this cathedral you leave the Canyon again. The “fishbowle is full of glass fishes, which surround you on your way to the exit completely. If you dive the Canyon later in the morning, you will see a curtain of bubbles ascending from the gap. Leave the lagoon direction the south, you gonna see very beautiful coralgarden. The Canyon Coralgarden has to offer something for each of you. Frequently a turtle comes ouy of the coralgarden. Above the sandy area perhaps you find the lionfish. A steep rock slope, which drops into unfathomable depths, forms the end of the reef plateau. The divespot Canyon offers you everthing from a coralgarden over the drop-off up to the Canyon, what a diver can wish. We recommend min. 2-3 dives at this fantastic place. Bells Blue hole - the Blue hole, the most famous and notorious diving place of Dahab. The Blue hole is the northernmost diving place, which can be reached with vehicles. A nearly circular dark-blue hole in the reef roof with a diameter of approx. 25 meters that drops down into the depth of over 100 m. The Blue hole hardly offers corals contrary to the beautiful external wall. The steep wall, which strechs itself along the coast, is breathtaking. Overgrown with a multiplicity of corals and the view in the deep blue. Filigrane Fan-corals, fire-corals, as well as tree-soft-corals, can be found here. You can dive this place in different ways. With an entrance into the Blue hole you cross the reef roof over a saddle on 7 m. The steep wall can be dived now left or right shoulder. Another entrance somewhat north called “Bells”. After a short climbing across a rock, you arrive a gap at the bank. If you dive here, you jump into an -on one side- open chimney, which drops down vertically to a depth of 27 m. Jump in. But caution, do not forget at the end of the chimney, which closes on its last meter completely, to blow up the Jacket since here the steep wall drops down to an unfathomable depth (one says approx. 800 m). Along overhangs you follow the steep wall right shoulder south direction. You should slowly leave now the depth of 30 m, in order to be able to enjoy the most beautiful coral-formations within the somewhat flatter ranges. Also the saddle of the Blue Hole fascinates by its splendid colors. You reach it after approx. 20 minutes and you can recognize it from approximately 12 m depth easily. The two exits of the Blue Hole cannot be missed due to their characteristic notch. We would like to point out here that the descriptions of diving place specified above are only noncommittal advices. Dive the dvespots in each case with consideration of your diver knowlwdge and certification. So that you can enjoy many beautiful dves.

Dahab is a little bedouine-village on the peninsula of sinai at the gulf of Aqaba approx. 90 km north of Sharm-el-Sheikh and it means “gold” in arabic. The tribe of the Mezeinah was established here long time ago. The mixture of the traditional bedouins and the young visitors to Dahab Assala makes a completely different atmosphere than it normally is in tourist destinations. Dahab developed from a hippy village to a dive spot with a well functioning infrastructure. The village originally consisting of four parts almost grew together today. The northernmost part, Assalah, is the former bedouin village. in the tourist center called Masbat with the Lighthouse, you find restaurants, bazaars, Cafes, Bars at the beach. 0.5 km south of Masbat you can find our hotel. Not far away from the bustle, but nevertheless far enough, in order to find at night the necessary silence. Southernmost is Dahab town center. Here are the city administration, the post office, gas stations and banks. Diving - the diving sport was introduced end of the sixties. From the hardcore-destination for loners Dahab was established to a well developed diving destination. Whom Hurghada and Sharm is too overflowed, Nuweiba too spartan, gonna feel good in Dahab. All dives will be done from land and are organized by us with jeeps or Pick-up. Missing anchor- and landingplaces keeps Dahab so far from mass diving tourism from the south. The kilometer-long reef along the coast of Dahab offers you an ideal spot with about 30 diving-sites for divers of all experience stages. Snorkeling - snorkeling-suitable sites are everywhere in Dahab. Also at the famous diving spots “Blue-hole” and “Canyon” you can have lots of fun snorkling.. Meals drinks - we offer a large variety of national and international meals in our restaurant. A rich buffet or a three-course meal (with half-board) refreshes your energy for your diving days. Otherwise we offer a la Carte meals. Prices - Dahab is an absolute Low budget spot, compared to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh.Higher flying costs can be compensated easily by the low prices standard. Lunches are available for a few euro, a complete meal is about five euro. Additionally all diving centers of the Sinai charge a fee of 1 US dollar per diving day as contribution to maintain the function of the deco-chamber in Sharm el Sheikh. Climate - in Dahab extremely dry desert climate with summer temperatures up to 40°C prevails. Due to the mountains, which penetrate close to the coastal line, however sometimes the temperature during the cold winter months January and February falls down to 15° Celsius. Just as well it can be up to 27° Celsius. Clothes - in the winter time a jacket and warm pullovers for the colder evenings might be needed. In the summer light cotton clothes.. Best travel time - Dahab can be traveled the whole year. High season prevails in the winter around Christmas and in the summer. Most pleasant travel time for europeans are the months April until June and October, November, if the sea is still pleasantly warm (23 to 27° degrees Celsius). But also the months between are recommended specially for divers who prefer quiter dive sites and lower prices. Diving equipment - in the winter and for those who dive a lot we recommend for the whole year 5-7 millimeters neoprene. In the summer and for those who dive less at least 3, better five millimeters. A good spare parts assortment (O-rings, high and low pressure hoses as well as sealing material) can become very helpful with smaller incidents. Medical care - medical basic care is given in Dahab, for larger treatments a transfer to Sharm is recommendable. In front of our hotel there is an physician and a pharmacy. Money - in Dahab there are several banks, the national bank maintains branches in Dahab town center and at the bus station. In Assala there are 2 cashmachines. The machinees are working usually without any problems with all usual cards. We recommend to have however in each case at least Visa or MasterCard. A taking along of foreign currency is not necessary (anymore): Euro are changed at every bank without problem.
