If you are traveling with other friends and family, the main house offers large parlors where you can converse away the hours and we can treat you to coffee, tea and any leftover muffins or cookies. O'Neill Room--($169) Named for acclaimed artist Rose O'Neill, this enticing room of twilight blue features the best of a social location (off the second floor parlor) and a private sanctuary (with a private balcony entrance/exit). It has a four-poster iron canopy king bed draped with lace, two-person 70 gallon bubble jet tub, gas fireplace, stocked beverage bar, coffee maker, TV with VCR, CD player, WiFi access and a private bath with shower. Enjoy breakfast on the private balcony overlooking the lush south lawn and gardens or at your room's fireside breakfast table. McCann Room--($139) Originally the master bedroom, enjoy the beautiful bay windows in this sunny yellow alcove. This is the most photographed room in the house. Amenities include a four-poster, rice carved queen bed, gas fireplace with sitting area, stocked beverage bar, coffee maker, TV with VCR, CD player, WiFi access and a large bath with antique claw foot tub with a rainfall showerhead. You will not be able to put down the autobiography of Charles McCann, builder of the house. You may want to invite your friends and family to enjoy the semi-private second floor parlor with a fireplace just outside your door. Carver Room--($119) Named after George Washington Carver, this room is our only first floor room in the main house. The hand-painted library wall and the Missouri books and winged-back reading chair fireside, invite you to read in this room complete with a custom-designed queen bed, gas fireplace, stocked beverage bar, coffeemaker, TV, WiFi access and a private bath with a jetted tub/shower. This room is insulated from the street by our parlors and is one of our quietest rooms. Many guests of this room use our first floor parlor as their living room. Ask us about the authors and titles on the faux books in the wall mural, which boasts a history of the Inn. Rosen Room--($109) Named for the fourth owners of the home, the rich burgundy and hunter green of this Victorian room with four-poster queen bed make it a favorite. The private bath features the original porcelain fixtures and built-in cabinetry from 1910 when the plumbing came indoors! There is a coffeemaker, TV, WiFi access, and a wicker lounge, but you may want to enjoy the semi-private second floor parlor with a fireplace just outside your door. For folks traveling together, the Rosen, McCann and O'Neill rooms, all on the second floor, share a common parlor with a gas fireplace, couch, chairs and a game table. This floor is a great private home for your group. Wilder Room--($89) Quaint and cozy with a queen bed, this room is named for the well-loved Ozarks author Laura Ingalls Wilder and features a treetop balcony and an antique clawfoot tub/shower in the room at the foot of the bed. Relax into the soft embrace of the quilt-covered queen bed as you read about that little house on the prairie. This third floor converted maid's quarters is ideal for single travelers or couples who want to hide in the attic at our lowest price. The private treetop balcony is best experienced at night (in your pajamas) where you can see the nighthawks circling in the evening sky. There is a TV, WiFi access and a stocked beverage bar just outside your door. Benton Room--($139) This room showcases the works of Missouri artist Thomas Hart Benton and features fifteen foot lofted ceilings and skylights. In our largest room, you will feel like a kid again, stealing away to Grandma's attic. There are two queen beds, a living room area (with fold out sleeper sofa), large TV and VCR, WiFi access, coffeemaker, a private bath with an antique clawfoot tub/shower and a stocked beverage bar just outside your door. The Wilder Room (described above) and Benton Room are perfect rooms to share with family or friends. We have had ladies' prayer groups, bride and bridesmaids parties and sleep-overs for preteens in these two rooms (Mom or Dad gets the Wilder Room!). The Carriage House was also built in 1894 and was a dirt floor stable until 1991, when it was converted to four lovely and secluded BB rooms with private baths. Two large rooms on the first floor give easy access (the Jewell Room is handicap accessible) and have wonderful built in canopy beds with gas fireplaces and two-person whirlpool tubs, while the upstairs rooms offer gas fireplaces and lofty ceilings with skylights.
