Welcome to the Solar da Glória ao Carmo! With a history of three hundred years, the Solar da Glória ao Carmo is a typical manor house built for the privilege of the Botelho de Sampaio family. For some time the house was derelict but it was bought and recovered in 1990, and is now the residence of descendents of the original owners. Considered to be of architectural patrimony, the House is located on the south coast of the island of São Miguel, archipelago of the Azores, a mere five minutes by car from the main town of Ponta Delgada and a very pleasant 200 meters walk from two of the best dark sand beaches of the island – Praia das Milícias and Praia do Pópulo. Its strategic location allows you to spend quiet nights at the most peaceful place of Livramento, where you can find some of the finest examples of manor houses of the island. Not very far away, the lush lakes of Sete Cidades (15kms) and Lagoa do Fogo (10kms), as well as the 18-hole golf course of Batalha (7kms) await your visit. Sleep in one of our rooms, each with own bathroom, and period furnishing, two of them featuring a private living room. Or if you prefer more independence overnight in one of our two apartments. You can enjoy our picturesque gardens and a large balcony with mountain views. In the neighborhood there are good restaurants, and grocery stores where you will find everything you may need.
