The apartment being situated next to the Castle, is only a short walk away from Princes Street renowned for its shops, Princes Street Gardens for its beauty or the Lawnmarket and High Street well known for their shops and attractions as well as their historical and pleasant buildings. As there is much to do, to see, and to visit nearby and in the surrounding area, it makes the apartment the ideal base in which to stay and from which Edinburgh can be toured and enjoyed, to do what you want, when you want and how you want. It is also a well suited place in which to relax for coffee or wine during a busy or lazy day or before setting out to take in the varied evening and night entertainments on offer in Edinburgh. It has been completely restored and consists of a tastefully finished large lounge / diningroom with an antique fireplace fitted for your convenience with an electric fire. The three windows of the lounge overlook Johnston Terrace, the Castle and the western skyline. Although the house has been fully upgraded to include gas central heating, it still retains original internal working wooden window shutters, natural wood finishes and plaster cornices. The fully fitted compact kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave and fridge. An automatic washing machine / drier is housed in a small utility room. The modern bathroom has a shower, illuminated mirror and a dual voltage shaver point. There is a double bedroom and the second bedroom has twin beds, both windows of these rooms look out at the Castle. Livingroom / Diningroom windows give Views to the Castle and some of Edinburgh's Skyline. Further expansions and developments have brought about this vibrant modern city. It has, throughout all these changes, managed to keep its magnificent architecture and natural beauty and these are readily available to be seen by the discerning traveller. It is because of this, that both the Old Town and New Town have become World Heritage Sites. As the city centre is so compact, it is full of fascinating places with historical significance, most of which are within short walking distances of each other. The Castle, in the centre of town, houses the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny, as well as displaying many items of historical interest. Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe Festival which bring many shows, plays, artistes and entertainers to Edinburgh for a four week extravaganza during August and September. Indeed throughout the year the City is home to numerous Festivals, Art Collections, Exhibitions, galleries and museums. Thousands of people now enjoy events such as;Hogmanay;, where over many days Edinburgh celebrates the New Year Festivities with organised events and street parties.
