The Restaurante Mara The Restaurante Mara, with capacity for up to 50 people, provides a;a la carte; menu with traditional, international and vegetarian dishes. The Cafeteria The cafeteria has satellite TV and provides access to the hotel terrace. In both areas you can choose from the cafeteria menu, dedicated to snacks and sandwiches, or the restaurant menu while enjoying views of the village, the hotel gardens and swimming pool, the mountains and the sea. Garage and Car Park Free parking is provided for hotel clients, either in the underground garage or in the car park. Taxi The taxi is available 24 hours a day. The Function Room The function room, with a capacity of 600 people, is used for weddings, baptisms, communions, conferences, New Year celebrations and any other social event that you may be planning. It has a stage, music centre and bar. Swimming Pool and Gardens The hotel has two swimming pools. The smallest is for our younger guests. Situated in the hotel gardens parents can enjoy the sun whilst their children enjoy the pool. During the summer months there is a lifeguard and pool bar, which provides both hot and cold food as well as refreshing drinks.

Cmpeta or Compita-Orum (in Latin) means a crossing or meeting place. Years ago it was considered the gateway to Granada and other internal towns and villages. Nowadays Cmpeta, situated in the foothills of the Almijara Mountains, next to the National Park, has a population of 3000 inhabitants. The village is shaped by its narrow, winding streets and white houses with balconies filled with flowers. The Gastronomy of Cmpeta includes.; Las Migas; (fried breadcrumbs),;El Potaje de Semana Santa (Easter hot pot), olive oil, honey, raisins and the famous Cmpeta Wine which is celebrated on the 15th August,;The Night of the Wine. Visitors can observe how the wine used to be made and taste it while enjoying the typical songs and dances that celebrate it. The Fair (23rd; 25th July). The fair celebrates the patron saint of Cmpeta, Saint Sebastian, with live performances of singing and dancing every evening. On the last evening there is a pilgrimage around the village. Bonfire Night (7th September). The hillsides light up with bonfires and the sound of conch-shells as people celebrate in their country houses. The Day of the Cross (3rd May). The population of Cmpeta creates a cross from different coloured carnations and, after a few hours of dancing, traditional foods and games, the cross is taken up to the;Cross on the Mountain;. Easter Week Good Friday begins with the;Via Crucis; a men-only procession, which takes place at seven in the morning and where an image of Christ Crucified is carried around the village. Jos Lpez Franquelo and David Avenell manage the Hotel Balcn de Cmpeta together. Jos was born in Cmpeta and has worked in the catering business along the Costa del Sol since he was young. In 1989 he moved to Cmpeta to open his own bar and restaurant. This was where he and David first met. David, from Oxford, worked with this father until 1982 when he began managing his own factory of spare parts for Land Rover. He first visited Cmpeta in 1986 and bought a holiday home. During his holidays David and Jos became friends. Eight years later he decided to move to Cmpeta. When David sold his factory he and Jos decided to build the hotel. Since 1996 they have managed the hotel on a daily basis.
