Fosshotel Husavik is a friendly and well-equipped hotel, located in the heart of Husavik and within walking distance to the harbour. This Comfort Tourist Class hotel, official 3 star, has a total of 70 rooms with the following room categories: 34 Standard-rooms with twin beds or double bed, satellite TV, radio, phone, internet access (LAN), all with private shower/wc. 10 Ocean-view rooms with twin beds, satellite TV, radio, phone, internet access (LAN), all with private shower/wc. The superior rooms are more spacious than the standard rooms, built in 2006 and feature a unique ocean whale themed decor. Other facilities include restaurant, Moby Dick Pub, reception, elevator, internet station, rooms for handicapped, conference facilities for up to 300 persons and free parking. The hotel is now probably the world's only whale-themed hotel, boasting unique features and exhibitions on these marine mammes in form of pictures, paintings, sculptures and a large whale stamp collection. The Moby Dick Pub is based on the famous movie and book Moby Dick. Please enjoy the unique sculptured whale stools, rocky chairs and tables. Guesthouse Bifrost is newish, well equipped and a family friendly accommodation, operated as a summer guesthouse on the campus of the Bifrost Business University. The guesthouse facilities include a coffee house, bar, hobby room, fitness room, TV lounge, outdoor hot tubs and sauna. Wireless internet connection is available at most of the guesthouse rooms and at the coffee house, which is called Cafe Bifrost. If not wireless, then the rooms have LAN internet connection. At Guesthouse Bifrost, operated by Inns of Iceland, following room categories are available: 12 standard rooms (17-22 mē) with private shower/wc and access to shared kitchen facilities, located in a building called Asgarour. 18 studio apartments with large private shower/wc and a private kitchenette (30 mē) are located in a building called Hamragarour which are ideal for 3 persons. The guesthouse reception is located in Cafe Bifrost, where you can also find a bar, TV and wireless internet connection. Cafe Bifrost opening hours are 08:00-22:00 but for late arrivals please call ahead. Cafe Bifrost offers grill menu, soup and dessert. Salad and newly baked bread come with the dinner. In general the dinner is served as a buffet, so mostly it is self service and served between 18:00-20:30. Additional to this we offer sandwiches, cakes and other delicacy. At Cafe Bifrost the breakfast is served between 08:00-10:00. All guestrooms and restaurant facilities are non-smoking. The fitness room, outdoor hot tubs and hobby room are complimentary for our gests and are open between 06:00-23:00. On the Bifrost campus there is a kidīs play ground, grocery store and ATM bank. The grocery store is open week days from 08:30-18:00 and on weekends from 11:00-16:00. Bifrost is one of Icelands most dramatic guesthouse settings, surrounded by bizarre 3000 year old lava fields and several volcanoes, located by the main Ring road; about 25 minutes drive north of Borgarnes. May 2008 Company of the year survey 2008: Fosshotels in 5th place. Fosshotel just received the recognition to be among the Companies of the year 2008 in a survey done by the The Icelandic trade union, the third year in a row. This year Fosshotel were in the 5th place, in the year 2007 in the 10th place and the year 2006 in the 15th place. Over 10.000 employes in 500 companies participated in the largest workplace survey in Iceland and altogether 40 companies received the recognition Company of the year 2008. Also are hiking poles available for renting. April 28th 2008 Yoga presentation in Kringlan. Fosshotels had a yoga presentation yesterday in Kringlan shopping mall in Reykjavik. The yoga- and wellness retreats at Fosshotel Reykholt were presented to people passing by our stand. March 2008 Yoga weekend seminars at Fosshotel Reykholt. In February this year started offering yoga- and wellness retreats. We were so lucky to have a great indian yoga teacher to come and join us at Fosshotel Reykholt. Her name is Aanika and she has a great experience both in yoga and dancing. Aanika is also a Ayurveda masseuse and a classical indian dancer. Her english is very good and everyone is welcome to come and join her in our yoga- and wellness programs at Fosshotel Reykholt. With Aanika you can learn indian Bollywood moves, which are swinging hand- and hip moves. Aanika is not only teaching yoga postures but also the psychological, mental and emotional factors in the practice of yoga. Responding to our guestīs service reports and letters, Fosshotels are offering the possibility to book room upgrades when reserving online. These upgrades are also possible at check-in at the hotel, subject to availability. The first results show that about 30-35 % of our online bookings request room upgrades. According to our first customer feedback, the historical rooms at Fosshotel Baron are the chain's most romantic hotel rooms with real character. Here comes a little history about the Baronīs historical rooms. The French baron named C.Gouldree-Boilleau moved to Reykjavik in the year 1898 and founded the first dairy farm in Iceland that had the main purpose to sell milk. He became a pioneer in that field. His farm was called The Baron-dairy farm and both Baronsstigur, the street, and Fosshotel Baron are named after the French baron. This is a preserved building and the furniture and decorations reflect that period. December 2007 Fosshotel was in 10th place in VR, company of the year survey. March 2007 Fosshotel becomes Iceland's first hotel chain with all non-smoking facilities. Iceland voted for smoke-free bars, cafes, pubs, restaurants and night clubs. The Icelandic parliament has passed a new law, making all enclosed workplaces smoke free. The law is set to come into force on 1 June 2007. Fosshotel has therefore decided to become Iceland's first hotel chain to have all guestrooms, bar and restaurants complete non-smoking facilities, starting 1 June 2007. March 2007 Whale watching season 2007 starting soon in Husavik The whale watching season 2007 in Husavik is only few weeks away. will begin organized tours in April 20th, which is a little sooner than in the past few years. From April - June there will be one trip each day at 13:30 but in early June, there will be added more trips to the schedule and up to 11 trips per day during July and August. The first whales are seen by the coasts of Iceland in the spring, when they coming looking for food. It will be exciting to see what species will be the first to arrive this year. Through the years, minke whales and white-beaked dolphins have been the most common species in the first period but humpback whales have also been seen. Hopefully, conditions for birds and whales as well as travellers will be at their best this summer and Fosshotel Husavik and Nordur-sigling look forward to welcoming their guests. According to VR, the Icelandic trade union, yearly survey Fosshotel is among the top 20 companies in Iceland that employees value as a good to work for. Around 30 thousand employees took part in the survey. February 2006 The first Health-weekend at Fosshotel Reykholt was a success! The first Health-weekend at Fosshotel Reykholt was held on the 3rd -5th of February and turned out to be a big success.
