Casa Papagaio is a tourism authority approved bed and breakfast guesthome. The modern building is gracefully surrounded by a lovely garden and has a view over the ocean to die for. About the Apartments. There are three studio self-catering apartments and one exclusive self-catering apartment. Each of the apartments is fully equipped with all the kitchen needs required. Each of the apartmetns have their own ensuite bathrooms, television sets with cable television and sofas or arm chairs. The two studio self-catering apartments are located next to the swimming pool and have their own exclusive terraces with an awesome sea view. The third self-catering apartment is adjoining the main house and has the garden before it with garden chairs. It has a sea view. The largest of the apartmetns is actually its own cottage. That is, it is a detached two floor cottage with a large comfortable bedroom with its own balcony and sea view. Casa Papagaio is a privately owned accommodation run by Filomena, the family and staff. From a family of hotel entrepreneurs herself Filomena was determined to realise her dream of a small, well decorated, very sunny, and comfortable accommodation on the slopes of her beloved Funchal. Unlike many of the other accommodations of the same class the house is of modern arquitecture. Its strongest feature are the massive glass windows that almost open all the way to the wide Atlantic sea from all the way left to the right of the house. Each room has the widest sea view possible and has a long roof-to-the-floor length curtains for privacy. The interior decoration of the house was purposefully filled with tasteful Portuguese and Indo-Portuguese furniture and works of art. Particularly unique are the very special Madeiran artefacts and extraordinary Madeiran embroidery and Portuguese cutlery. Tasteful prints of Van Gogh and other impressionist artists lend the home a colourful and rich character. In the garden a miscellany of plants and flowers abound. A short staircase below a nice large swimming pool is made available to customers for their use. This is a great spot to catch up on some sun! Another feature of the property is the Levada that runs through it. That is, the Levada dos Piornais and using that water course you can walk to Funchal or Camara de Lobos. Note: Filomena is a dog lover and several very well trained and docile dogs run freely in the garden. If you love animals you will be so surprised at how gentle and beautfiul her collection of canines are. In turn guests are allowed to bring their own small pets too.
