Set in the village of Goathland (also known as Aidensfield from the Yorkshire Television program Heart Beat), the Fairhaven is a charming Edwardian country house in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Built at the beginning of the 1900's by Captain Richard Smailes of the Smailes Steam Ship Company, the house was his personal country residence. Whilst retaining much of its original character, the Fairhaven now provides comfortable and attractive accommodation for guests to relax and enjoy their holiday. We can offer accommodation for single people as well as couples and families with children. We also offer ideal facilities for group visits, small conferences and family parties. As well as offering superb views of the heather covered Moorlands, the Fairhaven has a licensed bar, private car park and pleasant gardens. Guests can sit and relax in the large lounge where they can play cards, dominoes and board games or just watch television. THE GUEST HOUSE IS TOTALLY NON SMOKING. SORRY WE DO NOT ACCEPT PETS AT THE COUNTRY GUEST HOUSE. A surcharge for single occupancy of a double room may apply. Walking groups welcome. Cancellation Policy: Bookings cancelled within 3 days of arrival then 100% of the booking value becomes payable. Bookings cancelled within 14 days of arrival but not less than 3 days are charged at 50% of the balance due. No shows and curtailments will be charged 100% of the booking value. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway runs through the village and Goathland Station (Hogwarts Station as seen in the first Harry Potter movie) is a short walk from the hotel. Rail enthusiasts can also travel to the nearby city of York and the National Railway Museum. Goathland is also an ideal base from which to explore the North Yorkshire Coast, the historic fishing villages of Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes, the traditional resorts of Whitby and Scarborough and the many coastal footpaths. Also enjoy unravelling the history of Yorkshire starting with the nearby Roman Road and moving on from ancient abbeys and churches to stately homes such as Castle Howard. Heartbeat fans will also know the village as Aidensfield and they can visit the familiar Scripps Garage, The Aidensfield Arms as well as the Post Office.
