Some excerpts from the website of Gripsholms Vardshus & Hotel that might be useful
Eating at Gripsholms Vardshus should always be a new and exciting experience - even to our regulars. In the inns
dining room we serve first class food with a breathtaking view over the Gripsholm Castle. Many people come to us to celebrate special occasions or to invite grandmother to
lunch or to eat a romantic
dinner. During the summer we open our
terrace where we serve directly from our
barbecues. Here you can sit either in the grass or under our roof of canvas. The Gustavian
banqueting hall is on the next floor up. The
banqueting hall has
room for up to 100 guests. This is the venue for
wedding receptions and all kinds of social events. For smaller gatherings there are various smaller
rooms to choose from. Would you like to breathe in the air of the 15th century? Visit our wine cellar, where the oldest parts of the inn are found. Here you will find the remnants of the old Carthusian monastery Pax Mariae walls and two wells, dating back to 1493. Book a wine tasting with our sommelier or enjoy a cheese board after
dinner.
Mariefred - a timeless idyll To many people Mariefred means Gripsholm Castle and its history. But Mariefred is so much more. Wooden houses in soft, pastel shades. Apple trees with their twisted branches reaching over the pathways. Hollyhocks and cobbled pavements. The railway station with its pinnacles and towers. Oldfashioned
steam engines that still operate. The royal deer-
garden with its ancient oaks and free-roaming deer. And the S/S Mariefred also sails here. One of the oldest steamers in scheduled service in the world. A coal-fired
beauty, built around the turn of the last century and sailing to Mariefred from Stockholm since 1903. Gripsholms
Golf Club's challenging, high-class 18-hole course is only five minute's walk from the inn. If you do not have a Green Card you can spend an hour practising your pitching and putting. A
centre for fine arts printmaking, Grafikens Hus, is also situated in Mariefred. Mariefred truly is an idyll - a timeless idyll. If you want to know more about what's going on in Mariefred, please contact the local Tourist Information

rooms are named after their exclusive guests. It is the setting, the sum of all the parts that gives Gripsholms Vardshus its irresistible charm. Genuine Swedish craftsmanship combined with exclusive materials create a cosy, peaceful atmosphere.
