Woodwick Bay (middle of picture) with Wyre and Gairsay in Gairsay Sound. Situated in a rural location on the West Mainland coast and set in some of the only woodlands in Orkney on the edge of a secluded bay, Woodwick House has an incredibly tranquil atmosphere, a real get away from it all place. The main towns of Kirkwall and Stromness are both just 15 miles away and with the good roads these and all the main sites such as Maes Howe, Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae St Magnus Cathedral are no more than a 20 minute drive away making Woodwick an ideal base for your stay in Orkney. The ferry terminal for the islands of Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre is nearby and the fabulous Broch of Gurness is a couple of miles along the road towards Evie village where there is a local
shop and Post
Office. Directions: From Kirkwall or Stromness, A965 to Finstown; take A966 north towards Evie. After 7 miles take next right after Tingwall ferry turning, then first left all way down track to house amongst trees. a€śBeautiful atmospheric setting - quite magicala€ť.
