telephone, in writing or by E-mail. Caledonian Mac Brayne operate the ferries and you can sail to the Isle of Barra from Oban, Lochboisdale and South Uist. From the Ferry Terminal turn left. Travel for one mile until you come to the sign-post for Nasg. Turn left into Nasg and Faire Mhaoldonaich is half a mile along Nasg road on the right hand side. If a
taxi is required from the Ferry Terminal, call in at the Tourist Information
Office and they will make arrangements. The plane comes from Glasgow and Stornoway (via) Benbecula and the timetable is governed by the tide. The Post Bus meets the plane and will drop any passengers off at the guest house.

Kismul Castle is on its own island and dominates the bay after which Castlebay is named. This castle was the ancient home of the chief of the Clan Mac Neil. It is now in the care of Historic Scotland and is open to the public during the summer months. Cille Bharra. The church of St Barr dates from the 12th century. One of the ruined churches has been restored and contains the replica of a unique grave slab which has Norse runic markings on one side and a Celtic cross on the other. The original is in the National Museum of Antiquities. Mingulay Sea

We are on the road to the Isle of Vatersay where a causeway connects Barra to this island which has lovely beaches and coastal walks.
