In past years, our pub nights has been kind of traditional and are almost everytime very well-visited. We server good beer (and other drinks of course) to the music from different live performance. Skutskepparn is the restaurant that serves fresh fish caught by ourselves. Why not a plate with newfried herring and home made mashed potatoes? Our locals are bright and nice with a great view ower the fishingcamp of barsta. Our guest can choose to sit outside and enjoy this view on our terrace. We serve many dishes like salmon, whitefish, herring and several meat-dishes. There is also possble to get children-sized portions.

After the dinner it might be nice to go for a walk to the old chapell at the edge of the wood. This chapel was built 1665 since praest Nils Bozaeus the year 1654 had made a law that the fishermen using the water for fishing should build this chapell. This was made by the villagers in Barsta, the upland fishers and the fishermen from Gavle. Altough they had no intrest in this building, the finally had to give in due to a menace of not being allowed to use the harbour or fishingwaters. Barsta has ancestries from the early 1400 but was at this time wearing the name Barastadhum. The year 1686 there was about 20 fishinghouses on the southern side - there are now twelve. Barsta is also main harbour for the boat that goes to Hogbonden lighthouse which is the highest placed lighthouse in sweden. There is also a hostel where you can stay at Hogbonden with one of the most beautiful views in Sweden. From Barsta you can also go for a walk to the Nature reserve of Rotsidan with it's beautiful rocklandscape and special coastline. This, and much more, are only available in Nordingra and High Coast.

The name Skutskepparn comes from the fact that Barsta had several ships shipping sand and other supplies around the coasts. The company was founded 1995 and has every year evolved into what it is today. We are constantly inventing new ideas for the future. Our idea are to offer people a great enviroment in an area with ancestry from the 15:th century. An area of culture that makes people find peace and being able to sit down and relax to a nice peace of food that comes directly from the sea.
